Quake for me is my "nostalgia" game. While I had copies of the first two Dooms on my first PC, it was Quake that I booted up the most (along with Worms 2), with my Pentium 133 boasting its massive 16MB of RAM. Ahh, Quake. I learned mouselook with it, and certainly my general preference for FPS games came from Quake.

So news of this remaster came as a welcome surprise. It's not perfect but I really like what it's brought to the table. Making the expansions plus DOPA and the new DOMA expansion was wonderful as it brings things together in an easy to access package. I really enjoyed playing through everything again- with the two main expansions it was the first time I'd played through to the end, I'd gotten about two thirds through them before, and I'm unsure why I never got around to finishing them until now. I quite like SoA, DoE less so.

Well, on to the various mods that exist out there- and there's a *lot* of mods to try out, from total conversions to map jams. Looking forward to it.
