Things this game lets you do:

  • Meow incessantly, for no reason at all
  • Jump on keyboards and spam gibberish on computer screens
  • Knock everything imaginable off edges. Coffee cups, glasses, bottles, pots, etc...
  • Scratch up and ruin couches and furniture
  • Run between people's legs while they're walking, and watch them face plant on the ground
  • Meow through entire cutscenes
  • Jump inside and hide in cardboard boxes
  • Curl up on top of a robots lap and go to sleep
  • Never stop meowing

Edit: nominating for a steam award

Successfully updates the classic game for modern hardware with a noticeable graphical increase. Many things have been improved or added in, while keeping everything you love from the original game.

I immediately went for the achievement that requires you to manually fight every single battle. 75 hours later I achieved world domination in my first campaign. Keep in mind that's only 1 campaign of technically 3 different games included with this, as they have Rome 1 era knockoffs of the Napoleon TW and Atilla TW games as selectable options in the launcher. Atilla being called Barbarian Invasion, and set during the collapse of Eastern and Western Roman Empires.

One of the first games I ever got addicted to on a PC, and the first game I ever played competitively online. This is a master of a remake, and brings it to life 25 years later for a new audience. Even if you aren't nostalgic for the old times, I think this game can bring some fun for new gamers. Westwood Studios/Petroglyph did a fantastic job, and I'm amazed EA allowed it to be remade with the original team that was bought out and shuttered years ago by them. EA also worked with the community via OpenRA and CnCnet on the remaster.

Red Alert online multiplayer over phone lines with school friends was my first experience with online multiplayer, and I had my parents buy a second phone line so we could talk without disrupting the internet connection. In multiplayer the AI will, at timed intervals, send every single unit they have built against your base, and when one of us would notice it we would scream "RED ALERT!" Good times.

I noticed some people here complaining about the click and move and attack frustrations (along with pathing). In Red Alert at least, this was corrected with what was called Queuing (Q'ing). You select to move or attack a unit or structure and then hold down Q and click to move different directions to strafe and dodge while continuing to attack and/or move without pause. Even back in the day it was somewhat unknown, and I was able to get some cool gear out of Westwood Studios tournaments using it.

SIde note: Missing those player-made Nurple maps that were so popular.

Easy to learn; difficult to master; even harder to stop playing. I have 400+ hours on PS4, and didn't hesitate to buy it on PC as well.

You can pick this game up and instantly be able to participate in a meaningful way in online matches, but the game will push you to progress along with your competition. You will start out celebrating a goal, then celebrate a backflip goal, then celebrate an aerial goal, before celebrating a backwards/upside down/freestyle/aerial goal.

Matches have a 5 minute timer, and so you end up saying "just one more game before bed" until you realize it's 2am.

If you have friends I definitely recommend bringing them along the learning process with you. If not, then you can meet plenty of nice people from within the game.

UPDATE 1 (11/2016): 1000 hours in the PC version now. I also have the Collector's Edition for XB1 and PS4 now. Nominating this game for a Steam Award.

UPDATE 2 (11/2017): 1500 hours on PC, untold hours on Xbox and PS4 both. I play this on all consoles - it's that fun. Nominating for steam award.

UPDATE 3 (11/2018): Honestly I'm just editing and nominating this game for an award again for the easy badge. Microtransactions rule the day in rocket league now, although at least it's cosmetic only unless you count the loot box vehicles that have variatons of hitboxes.

Edit: 6/2019 for steam sale points
