Many of the negative reviews are from players who experience bugs on the Community Servers. The problem with that is that these servers are modded at most times, so please try out the official servers if you experience bugs on the Community ones before you give up on this game ;)

Although very fun with friends, currently not worth the full price for 6 hours of gameplay - in which I played very slowly. Will be worth the full price once the dev releases Steam Workshop Support!

"Dear Esther" is a simply astonishing indie game that enchants you with its vibrant fluorescent colours, its calming and mysterious ambience and of course its slow but driving story. The story really makes you feel like you are in the game itself, you are the character, you live on that island. The map is somewhat open, although it somehow makes you go a certain path which leads you to always new exciting or somehow sad places that always connect to the storyline in some way. "Dear Esther"'s soundtrack is one art for itself though. It always plays the right calming and chilling music and underlines the storyline perfectly. You may have many questions towards the story like "What is this, I'm used to open worlds and dragons!?" The real question that you ask yourself once you see the island for the first time though is: "How did I get here and what exactly am I doing here?"

Early Access Review
It is a pretty good game for an early access game, although I have to say I got bored rather quickly after realising that it is pretty repetitive to play in its current state. Extremely fun to try out together with friends though, so I can definetely recommend it if you like sandbox games :)
