This game is addictive and challenging in all the right ways. It's a bit of XCOM, a bit of DOOM, and a lot of roguelike with a K. I started playing this game during its early access and not only has it come a long way since it started but the developer was always active, engaging with the community, and rolling out big new features at regular intevrals.

It's a roguelike that doesn't have a massively complicated controls, take way too long to play (runs are about 2 hours like an FTL run), or contain unfair deaths. The game design is well balanced and the gameplay loop is addicting as you go from killing, looting, and figuring out the direction you want your build to go as you step ever closer to the end boss.

Enemy, weapon, and build variety are all present. There are dozens of different weapons to try and enemies to kill, with every new enemy you encounter offering a new kind of tactical challenge you must face and find good solutions to so as not to get worn down to death or quickly killed. There are three classes, and each has five different master traits to make a total of 15 different ways to play a run (or you can go masterless and do whatever you want).

There are six difficulties, 4 chapters per run, over a dozen challenges, and several trials which are totally different ways to experience the game. Content is not lacking in this game by any definition and every run is a gripping ride from start to finish.

Graphics and sound are what you would expect from a high production value game, not an indie roguelike, which makes this game punch a good bit above its weight class. The animation blending too means that nothing looks jank despite being a turn based, grid based game. It's beautiful, violent, and punchy in motion and always satisfying when you gib a demon or a zombie. Soundtrack is great and fitting for each chapter of the game, and the DOOM style carnage of the game in general.

I highly, highly recommend this game. It surpassed my hours played for both XCOM and XCOM 2. This is from someone who does NOT normally like traditional roguelikes at all. This one is special.
