IMO the mechanics were a lot better, but the Lore in the first dark souls was much better

that's pretty opinion based but it certainly has better mechanics and ways it tells the lore such as one part of the game where you drop off a ledge, and come across some surviving creatures that the lore says werent there, dark souls was more linear.
