Not broken on launch, fully fleshes out (and optimizes?) an established game mechanic. New survivor is fun, new maps are cool, and overall provides a good challenge.

Pleasantly surprised! Give it a shot.

This game is absolutely everything I wanted and more. I'm well into act 2. My expectations are destroyed. Downright fantastic work. My only gripe is that, yes, this game is very difficult. It's hard to recommend this game for people who struggle with more difficult games. Go play Hollow Knight first if you want to play this game.

AS OF 2025:
Deltarune Chapter 4 is Toby's best work to date. Any and all expectations I had for this chapter have been exceeded.

Editing stickers has had a catastrophic effect on the monster hunter community. There was a sticker that said "Hunt Tuah."

I already broke the game.

I still would recommend playing this. I'm having a lot of fun with it and I enjoy the challenge. Plus the soundtrack is phenomenal. However, I think there's a lot of problems that are fixable.

Problem #1: Performance.

My PC struggles with this game. Lots of stutters and even micro-freezes happen when I'm trying to fight a boss. I've lowered my settings and get the same results. I'm running a 3060. It isn't the best gpu, but it's certainly far from the worst. Fromsoft, please fix.

Problem #2: Not polished.

Your camera clips through the lion, making it harder to see what attacks will happen. The relanna AOE lingers for too long, potentially ending your entire attempt because you didnt roll perfectly. Many bosses can still two-shot you despite having 60 vigor and some tough armor. Why? Because there wasn't enough work put into polishing this dlc. The separate scaling doesn't benefit the dlc in practice whatsoever.



EDIT:

I just solo'd the final boss of the DLC. Seems like they fixed quite a few performance issues and polish issues. They still have a lot of issues in that regard (GAIUS), but this DLC is phenomenal. Give it a try!

Easily the best roguelike I've ever played and honestly one of the best games I've ever played. Gameplay loop is super simple... you'll catch onto it in minutes. Then you realize just how deep the game goes in terms of strategies, tech, and mechanics. It never shies away from making you overpowered, in fact it encourages it. It's cohesive, infinitely replayable, and downright infectious... All without any loading screens.

My review may be a drop in a sea of good reviews, but trust me. Give this game a chance, you will NOT regret it.
