It is a little visually sterile/uncreative, but that's the only flaw it has. Build possibilities are crazy good, lots of characters that all play differently, and the sterile art design makes the game crisp and clear, you won't lose your character under a pile of special effects or step on boss mechanics because you couldn't see the red circle.

One of my fave vamplikes, 8.5/10

Really good Roguelike game, slowly becoming my favorite. The build varieties are insane, there seems to be little to no bad RNG, and the pace at which the game is played makes it accessible to anyone.

The art design is incredible too, 2D sprites in 3D environments.

Phenomenal amount of content for your money, especially with the World of Assassination rebranding.

Not only is there a ton of content (probably the most I've ever seen in a game), but it's all highly re-playable too.

10/10 graphics and optimisation also, until you enable Ray-tracing then it's all downhill from there. Hitman, especially with the graphical upgrades of Hitman 3, looks like it's Ray-traced anyway, with the best reflections you'll ever see in a game without Ray-tracing, so you don't even need to use it (thankfully).

Maxed out with 1.5x supersampling at 1440p gives me a solid 100fps on every map except two which sit around 70-90. Bumping the supersampling up to 1.6x or more drops my framerate to 5 though, which is definitely some kind of bug.

Hardware: 9900K with a 3060ti.

[PROS]
Very good RPG with incredible depth in most aspects that matter, even decisions you make during quests affect you heavily down the line, which is a system a lot of modern RPG games are lacking. Has a very addictive gameplay loop identical to This War of Mine but with far more engaging combat, and benefits immensely from future planning. Survivors can be good at combat or good at jobs in your base, but not both. So it is important to build upon their existing strengths, trying to be a jack of trades with characters will get you nowhere.

This tight levelling system combined with the level soft cap and time limited missions means that poor planning can make a survivor almost useless, or at least significantly underpowered, or cause you and everyone you know to die horribly, which is very punishing but injects a ton of depth into the game which other RPGs lack. There is also permadeath, and the game is very long (around 25-40 hours depending on playstyle) but also plays heavily like a roguelike game with failed runs contributing to the strength of future runs. It is a very weird combination but it works really well. It is similar in this aspect to Darkest Dungeon but starting a new run after a failed campaign is nowhere near as frusterating as it is in that game. The map is quite large and there is a ton to learn.

[CONS]
The animations are not great, although some of them are incredibly funny, so this is somewhere in between a pro and a con. Keep a look out for the 'raging' enemy type and watch their idle animation closely, its ducking great. The 3D graphics are also very dated, but the 2D aspects such as the HUD and map (which you will spend a lot of time with) look great.

The biggest flaw however is the percentages, they are not what they say they are. I have played many games that deal with percentages (hundreds of hours in X-COM for example) and have a good idea of how percentages tend to feel. They are not displayed correctly in this game at all. It is especially noticeable with assault rifles when you fire 6 shots at an enemy with 80% accuracy and almost always 'miss' half or more. It is even more noticeable with enemy block and crit chance. Enemies tend to have between 5% to 30% block depending on the enemy type. I had multiple instances of an enemy with single digit block % blocking 4 or 5 attacks in a row, and this was not a rare occurrence, it was actually very common. In pretty much every fight half or more of our attacks would 'miss' or get blocked despite hit chances being 90% or more and the enemies present having block chances below 10%.

It's not a case of missing one or two 95% shots and thinking you never hit, because you forgot the other 50 shots you took that did hit at that percentage like it is in X-COM, it isn't psychological. Mathematically the numbers displayed in Dead Age 2 are not close to what is actually operating behind the scenes.
