Fort,
night

----

My PC is about 7 years old and running an AMD FX 8350. I just updated my Geforce RTX 2070 and set most settings to medium and it runs great. Honestly not sure how I can run it though seeing as it doesn't meet the minimum requirements but I can't really complain.

Only issues I have come across is the random hostile npc that become invisible and occasional server drop outs but other than that no big deal. It's great fun.

I originally download this game on my Android phone and I was not disappointed. When I found out this game was on PC I downloaded it straight away. I love Idle games but this one goes above and beyond for me. Its an idle game but you don't need to be idle to enjoy it in its entirety. That is what makes this game so great.

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE HALO INFINTIE MP ONLY

This is a tremendous change since Halo 4 and 5 MP. It brings me back to the Halo 3 MP and Halo: Reach MP days. This is a great thing. 343i seem to be listening for once which is nice. I am very much enjoying this refined and refreshed Halo MP. However, although the gameplay is very good for my standard being a Halo fan since Halo: CE days, there are a number of things that need to be addressed particularly based around experience and rankings. It just seems like an afterthought. I understand that this is still in its beta days and things will change eventually but surely this is something that should be crucial point with how a MP system works.

My message to 343i:
Please fix these problems. We need something to work toward and something to keep us engaged. The XP system still needs to be fixed. You need to give us XP per match and performance and actually give us decent access to customisation options without sending us bankrupt. I’d also like to see a map veto system and pre-game roster. Overall though, please keep at it. I am someone who has had strong unfavourable opinions of what you have created since Halo 4. I am thrilled and quite surprised at what you have created here. I am quite impressed. I thank you for listening to the community and I am keen to see where this game leads.

TL;DR:
It’s a decent game. Feels very Halo compared to the last BS we saw with Halo 4 and 5. It feels like classic Halo MP is back with a fresh skin, fresh features and a fresh start. XP and ranking system is awful. The over saturation of microtransactions is depressing and extremely off-putting. It is however a free to play game and purchases are entirely optional but to give non-paying players nothing is just crushing. All in all, I am pretty keen to see where they take this.

Gameplay – 7.8/10
Style – 7.8/10
Playability - 8/10
Progression – 1.7/10
UI – 4.2/10
Overall – 4.3/10 (MINUS points for XP and ranking issues. This will change once fixed)

Pros:
- Feels like I am playing Halo again. Not like Halo 4 and 5.
- Art style is more Halo like. None of this fake ultra sci-fi generic crap
- Abilities are pick up only (again) and are actually balanced. Finally!
- No loadouts. Thank ♥♥♥♥
- Weapons feel more like Halo than the previous few games and actually have purpose

Cons:
- Still quite buggy
- Menu and UI is average
- Customisation is inaccessible to most players unless you pay big real life $$$
- Even if you do pay $$$ for customisation it is still a grind
- No pre-game roster or map/type voting system
- No matchmaking options
- XP earning is basically redundant and you work toward nothing.

Gameplay
Obviously being in beta there are still a few knots needing to be untied. Overall, the gameplay is great. I can spend hours on this MP. Something I haven’t been able to do since Halo Reach or even Halo 3. Everything is clunky and heavy which sounds nice. Different, but nice. The look of the actual game is great. No more techy nonsense that makes everything look so fake and way too ultra-sci-fi. The AR looks nice and clean and has an OG feel about it. The BR performs well however it is under powered compared to the AR/Pistol combo. The downside about this is the way it runs and the way things spawn. I have had a few sluggish games and a few laggy games. I have a mid-top tier PC and a very good internet connection. It just seems to run at almost 80% CPU and feels like it is burning out my PC. My GPU runs at 40%. This can make the game slow at times and can cause disruptions. I cannot chat on discord whilst in a big team battle as it doesn’t load. No idea why and that could be a local problem so Ill ignore that. Game chat seems to stay enabled even if you disable it. I have had to turn it down to 0 a few times as some people seem give incredibly loud feedback as they can’t get a noise cancelling headset. The spawn times are great on most things however I dislike that the heavy vehicles spawn in at given times and are announced. I understand it is keeping the balance but this should be a game type rather than a “get to the spawn location” kind of deal. Bring in Big Team Heavies and bring back the gauss warthog please!

Abilities
To have abilities that are scattered at points around the map is a godsend. I really disliked those abilities in the series from reach and beyond were on a per loadout basis and were incredibly over saturated. Having the abilities something that you pick up rather than something you are just given unlimited amount of brings back that classic halo style and feel. Brings me back to Halo 3 MP days when you could pick up a bubble shield or a power drain. It felt like you actual had something useful. No ability feels like an afterthought nor does it seem useless. Thank you for bringing this back to how things should be.

Weapons
Weapons are great. They feel classic, don’t go overboard and aren't too unbalanced and overpowered. They work well and suit the game and the environment. They are not overly fake/generic nonsense and are actually pretty fun to use. Some of the new additions remind me a lot of the brute weapons such as the spiker and brute shot in Halo 3. (Also, very glad the Chopper is back). The pistol feels like the Halo: CE Magnum. Pretty nice. All weapons feel natural and like they belong in this game unlike the promethean scraps we were once served. These weapons work nicely however as mentioned they do need to be tweaked and spawning adjusted slightly. Also, the Halo 3-like spike grenades are back!

Lobby
There is barely a lobby. You cannot see a pre-game roster. Why? I would like to see who I am up against and who is on my team. I don’t get this. There are no custom matchmaking options. It would be great to see new search options, the ability to see the roster and also a veto system like Halo 3 had. Let the people vote!

Menu UI
Its okay. Feels different but its just that. It is okay. If you like simplistic, dumbed down UIs then you will be pretty thrilled. This is why I won’t make much of a fuss about this. There is really nothing to report.

Customisations
This has to be my biggest hate. You cannot unlock anything. Like I mean anything of use or anything decent unless you pay. Even then, due to the broken experience system you will be grinding for it. Most customisation options are either distributed through a paid battle pass at a certain level or you can buy them from the store using real cash. A simple armour set in AUS will set you back a whopping AU$20. This is ridiculous. Its all fine you want to have MTs in your game but don’t charge exorbitant amounts of money for a simple aesthetic. It is ludicrous. You have a limited amount of armour colour choices and there are no more primary and secondary colour options from what I can tell. There are armour sets that just don’t suit Halo nor do they fit in with the lore whatsoever. (The upcoming update next week is just an example). Another issue is the emblem and tag customisation. It is incredibly basic. You have a set stock standard and cannot edit layers or toggle layers on and off like previous titles. Just give us traditional armour and the ability to customise as we please.

Experience and ranking system
No XP per match. Why? All we get is a measly 50+ from a daily challenge which does ♥♥♥♥ all. I have played for almost 14 hours and I have progressed 5 levels with nothing to show for it. No rank, no new armour or anything else. Just some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ “Swap” that I can use for challenges that still give you ♥♥♥♥ all XP anyway. Even with a paid XP boost its still a grind. This whole challenge thing is great in theory but you need to back this up with something else like XP per game and experience based on performance. Give us something to work towards otherwise it will get boring very quickly.

I don't understand why the negative reviews? I thoroughly enjoyed this one to be quite honest. Yes, its very repetitive, its novelty and quite tedious but that's just it. The key word here is Novelty. Its just for a bit of "haha" if you catch my drift? No? Okay then. I do however think this DLC should be free or at least 50c

An easy way to get through this if you are not up to the pixel by pixel is to enable "Remove Completed Colours from Palette" and "Lock - Completed Pixels" in settings. These two settings are a must for this DLC. Slap on some tunes with these settings enabled do one colour at a time and you'll get through it in roughly 2-3 hours. Patience is key with this DLC.

Overall i'd say its about a 7.5/10. Huge pictures are incredibly time consuming but also quite rewarding once you get through it.

Early Access Review
Loving this game and very cool concept. Worth the small cost for its current Early Access status. It is well on its way to becoming a decent game but as the dev mentions it is a work in progress that will take some months to perfect. I would still recommend the purchase and have a chance to play test if you have a friend to play this with and of course if you do purchase and play test be sure to leave some feedback. A friend and I play tested tonight and found a few things and I hope the dev would appreciate some feedback.

I will list out my "most concerns" of fixes to my "least concern" of fixes then I will continue into ideas and future additions.

Most Concern
- When using a taunt only the word "Sound" appears with no sound and is only visible to the prop even when nearby.
- I may be missing something but I can't seem to be able to change my prop. This option seems to be missing for me so all games we played as barrels so it made it easy to spot props on some maps.
- On some maps, particularly the City map props can phase through specific objects and just camp there the whole game. This is mostly possible within the security containers.
- Mouse cursor randomly disappeared in the lobby menu after our last game. This happened to both of us.

Least concern
- The camera. (This is more of a suggestion rather than a bug) I would love to see an option for camera settings namely to pan the camera POV in and out from the player. There are times where you are unable to see in front of you whilst hiding and usually cuts into walls.
- Achievements seem to be buggy. I received the achievement for winning as a hunter but I only won as a prop whereas my friend receive 3 achievements randomly before he close the game.

Possible ideas:

- - - Maps - - -
Would love to see more props and maps. That is the most obvious one and I am sure going off other reviews your most requested.

Even an offering of bigger maps as I find some are just that little bit too small. There could be an option in multiplayer functions to set map size or filter by map size once more maps are added.

A big ask and likely a very timely and complicated process but randomly generated maps could be cool and that way maps are never the same giving people a level playing field when navigating the environment. But saying this I do understand and appreciate that this may not be feasible.

- - - In game display - - -
It would be cool to see things like the taunt icon with its associated keybind and cooldown seconds etc. display during game. This could be displayed near the health bar. Not sure if that makes sense? Kind of similar to when you a using an an ability with a cool down.

I'd also think it would be cool to see a countdown timer when the prop hide sequence begins before hunters begin the hunt. Gives a bit of optimism when searching for the right place to hide.

- - - - - -

Anyway, it's a very short and sweet "would like to see" list.

I think it's a great game you have created and it has loads of potential. I'd love to see a larger player base and loads of new features one day.

Please don't give up on this title and thank you for providing this beauty to the world and all your time and effort you put in to creating it. I also believe it could be worth more than $5 in the future after more updates even though you are incredibly humble and we appreciate that greatly. It's something I will continue to play from time to time and will likely gift to some more friends to party up and play some more.

Kindly thanks

A fan of your game
