They took the beta, chewed it for a year, spat it out and released it as it currently is. Very predatory practices, immense grind if you do not want to pay, and even if you do grind or pay to get a new character they removed practice mode so you won't know anything about the character and whether you like them or not until it's too late. Actually impossible to do rifts if you're solo, the game is slower, everyone is bigger, some characters are incredibly weak compared to others and some characters clearly weren't tested (banana guard). Playing the most popular game modes does not level your battle pass so people actively have to go out of their way to have less fun if they want to level it. Despite all this, you can still get some crazy plays if you're good enough (or play the busted characters and win for free) which feels good and keeps me returning.
