It's the usual Fatshart kinda release. If you've never played their games, go check out Vermintide 2 for now, it's solid. For this wait at least a year. I'm still gonna play because I hate myself and it's fun.

As of release, 1st December 2022:
-Performance MUCH worse than beta, RTX is ON by default for EVERYONE, can't turn it off even in configs. People can't get a stable over 30 framerate even on 30 series cards.
-Terrible problems with disconnects during the mission for some people just like at the start of the beta (not for me though)
-No campaign
-Barely any maps at all, instead of that you re-run the same few maps in a different direction
-No story that they hired a 40k writer for
-No weapons from the gameplay trailers, no 70+ weapons promised on release
-No promo outfits
-Some enemies shown in trailers are missing
-Toughness is broken, and they still haven't found the bug, so the core gameplay is changed from beta. Veteran class (the objectively superior one right now) can't really play the game. QA is missing altogether.
-The tickrate/sync is completely messed up. The game calculates hits on the server and the enemy position locally apparently, so you can hit enemies and the game will play the headshot sound for example but no damage will go through and the hit won't register. This is so prevalent that you can have about 5-6 of those occurences in a single game.
-No patrols
-No training room, instead of fixing it they just locked it until you're max level
-The PR team doesn't post outside of discord, and what they say there summed up: "there's no problems for most people, works on my machine, everything is great, you're just imagining a huge problem!"
-Despite the game launch, it's not really "finished". Yeah, this is industry standard at this point, but Vermintide had a 5th class on launch as well as 2nd and 3rd careers. As well as everything else they promised and blatantly didn't deliver on launch.
-No crossplay with Gamepass users
-♥♥♥♥♥♥ squad system for inviting friends that's not really reliable
-NO CRAFTING on release, but the CASH STORE is in. No way to earn the paid currency from in game, have to pay despite the fact that pre-release it was stated that there WILL be a way to earn it for free. This has been deleted from the page, and the PR response to this was "it wasn't a lie, it's just no longer true, big difference"
-Modifiers on some missions are bugged, like endless horde being on by default for heresy difficulty
-Classes are absolutely imbalanced. I don't mean "well it's release so give them time to balance it" unbalanced. I mean no thought into it at ALL imbalanced. Some classes are straight up inferior (zealot, psyker), some are superior (veteran). Veteran has the best most effective ranged combat (bolter/lasgun), the most effective melee combat (power sword), and the most effective ordnance (grenades that respawn infinitely and stack bleed 8 times). Zealot's ult is pretty much like ogryn's but worse, who knows what they were thinking giving them exactly the same ability but one being a gimped version. There's little incentive at all for anyone to play zealot with how inferior he is in everything. Psyker is almost useless on 4 and above difficulty. Very doubtful any of these problems can be addressed without revamping the whole class system.
-Weapons are absolutely imbalanced. Some are straight up the best (power sword), some are completely useless. This one might actually be fixed, but then again, it's just a problem of how some weapons are fundamentally mechanically coded.
-Lack of memorable characters with a personality having banter like in VT2. Instead every character is a general faceless archetype with a set of voicelines you can choose from. They got some interaction, but it's nothing like having actual characters in a party, might be a deal breaker for some after the wonderful VT2 cast.
-No reliable ways to get weapons you want, it's pure RNG whether you get a weapon type that you need or not unlike VT2 where you can just craft it.

Best RPG I've played in years. I'd recommend this even to people who haven't touched Gothic at all.

As of 3rd December (release day):
-It's possible to get softlocked before you even play the game during log in if your Microsoft account has any sort of problem at all (like having to confirm your credentials).
-Co-Op is virtually unplayable due to 2 second (!) input lag on everything for the guest player. Additional rubberbanding and stuttering occurs. Apparently the Co-Op is p2p, so this issue inherently belongs to the netcode and most likely will not be fixed. Therefore, you legitimately can't play the campaign with your friend.
-Multiplayer has minor input lag issues.
-Aim assist in multiplayer exists, people with a mouse find ways to still enable it and abuse it.
-Aim assist itself is stronger than in other games and sometimes akin to an actual aimbot.
-If you're on Steam, you get a random name, which you have to look up how to change and find out you gotta customize your Xbox gamertag on a special Microsoft website, which is conveniently down since literally every single person on Steam went to change their name from BillowyTerror74. No way Microsoft could have predicted this, right?
-Audio issues are present with a lot of people. Allegedly because of broken sound encoding while porting the game to PC because they had to change the sound engine to FMOD due to Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic compatibility.
-Push to talk does not work. Microphone in-game doesn't work at all for some.
-All animations are capped at 60 FPS. No animation interpolation above 60 FPS, meaning that the animations will still be running at 60 FPS while your camera/mouse movement's FPS is above that. Uncapped framerate still seems to lock itself around values of 60 and 120, and results in general jitter and stutter.
-Problems with matchmaking where people can't find a game.
-Lacks graphical settings, only 3 presets available.
-Can't rebind some keys, like communication.
-The game kicks you for idling during waiting for your match (!)
-No split screen, theatre or forge.
-Revamped experience/unlock system that a lot of players hate.
-Far from the best multiplayer map rotation.

Despite all this, the only game you can play is Reach, and it still has this many problems.

Unfortunately, and saying this as a big fan of the first game, I do not recommend anyone to buy and play this. Get the first game instead. Don't read further if you don't want to be a little spoiled about the game mechanics.

This game has a different player experiment than the first one. It tries to gauge how well the player can cope with defeat in the face of insurmountable odds. To this end it will utilize multiple artificial ways to screw you regardless of how well prepared you are. And then, it will throw it's ultimate ace. In short, it will make you invest around 16-18 hours in (and mind you, those hours are full of meticulous planning with not a second wasted), just before you get to the interesting shift in the story, and then see how well you can cope when the game tells you to ♥♥♥♥ off and start it ALL OVER AGAIN. It does this with either the infection or by killing off your adherents regardless of whether you gave them the best treatment possible or not. The only way to avoid it is by meta-stockpiling powders since the very first chance you get one. At that point in the story, you will have many permanent penalties on your save file from dying too, further incentivizing you to start from scratch.

It is, in this regard, much more frustrating than the first game, where you got exactly as much as you put in. Here, you have to obtain the metaknowledge of exactly what to do in the game to have a chance your second time through, which could mean like 15-20 hours wasted, and then the exact same amount of hours spent retracing your exact steps up to a point.
