I want to like it, as I loved Titan Quest.
Tried going melee. Felt good the first few hours. Then you get mobs with massive area of denial spells on low cool down, mobs with bleed effects that kills you through pots even when running away. My solution to a lot of the bosses and elites has been hit for 1 sec, run around and do nothing for 5 sec. Just felt bad.
I'm probably going to give it 10 hours more or so, just to see if it gets better

A lot to offer already for an early access game.

Currently there are 6 fleshed out biomes (Meadows, Black Forrest, Swamp, Mountains, Plains and Ocean). 5 of the biomes are for progression, where you raid structures and finish off with a boss. The progression curve can feel a bit hard at first, but after learning the combat mechanics and the importance of food buffs, then the curve will flatten out.

The building tools are pretty solid. You get more building material as you progress. I feel like it's missing a few more pieces, however people have been able to create truly amazing builds with the existing pieces. As of this review, it seems like the next big patch (Hearth and Home) will flesh out building.

The few bugs I've encountered thus far have been minor inconveniences.

Nothing too advanced.
The building mode was a bit lacking.
Worth a try.

Good old classic.
It can be played fully with mouse and keyboard without too much hassle, but controller is recommended.
A bug with a few of the achievements. If you stumble upon one of them, just repeat the level and the requirements.

+ Art of War is a great tutorial
+ Dedicated matchmaking
+ A few quality of life changes

All in all, if you don't own AoE 2 HD yet, get this one instead.
