I always thought this wouldn't be my sort of game since the space sim aspects are very arcade like, which is definitely true - but there is so much more to do in the game than I imagined. I loved the upgrade path on the gear, collecting resources, unlocking better gear, and building cool bases while exploring genuinely interesting and unique planets. There is story to an extent but I would say it's more flavour and direction than the main attraction. I was a huge sceptic coming in but this ended up being one of my favourite games I have played this year.

Cool idea, graphically pleasant, but ultimately an unsatisfying experience. The concept is nice but the game never really fully lets you enjoy it. A game about momentum but you always feel like you're being artificially limited, and railroaded in a certain direction. The trailers show you bouncing and zooming around amazing mountain scenes but more than half of the game has you pointlessly skimming across water or clouds or almost flat ground, none of which is thrilling or exciting unless perhaps you've eaten a fistful of mushrooms beforehand.

There is some attempt at story but actually it's just an annoying distraction between loading screens, and is totally impossible to understand. It's not even interesting enough to make me want to look it up.

The game is very short too, I was tabbed out for like 2 hours of my play time for reference.

I played this game a lot during the Beta and loved it, and the full release plays even better - it's a very polished game that you can tell a lot of thought and passion has gone into. It's a very slick, easy to get into but plenty deep tactical game, with a witty and well told story.

The game mechanics are introduced at a very satisfying but gentle pace, the story is told via some very clever narrative aids (such as the classic detectives pin board where you have to link clues together with red string - very satisfying). The art style is lovely, and there is no shortage of content even without replaying anything.

This isn't usually my preferred genre of game but it's tied all so well together it's impossible for me not to love it. So don't knock it until you've tried it.

Absolutely banging remake that they clearly put a lot of thought into. Graphics are great, it plays great, and the new challenges add dozens of hours of gameplay if you want it.

Fantastic game, more than a simple survival simulator, there is a great story-line underneath it too. Very much a 'must play' in my book.

A must buy for anyone with a VR headset. Great to just chill and play with friends, tons of content to play through, lots of replay value. It's one of those games that just works so well with the restrictions that get in the way of other VR titles.

Really can't praise this game enough. I expected a visual overhaul but didn't expect the gun mechanics to have been updated, and segments that have aged poorly to be entirely reworked and modernised. It is still very much a faithful Half Life experience, just more fitting for the times. Xen is the only part of the game that is basically unrecognisable—which is a good thing since in my opinion it was not a strong point of the original. The story of course is still all in-tact.

They delivered. Noice.

Just works so well, instantly stopped me getting motion sickness, and it's intuative and enjoyable to use.
