I wasn't sure what to expect going into this April Fool's joke game, but it's an absolute banger. The art direction is stellar, the soundtrack is a bop, and the characters are incredibly well-written. The story wasn't particularly long, but it was very engaging and held my interest from start to finish.

It's important for a game like this to have good dialogue, and MAN did they nail it here. Every conversation was a delight to behold, and the humor sprinkled throughout was used perfectly for each situation. I normally don't play a lot of point-and-click adventure games, but this one will hold a very special place in my Steam library.

The fact that this was produced as an April Fool's joke and given out for free blows my mind. SEGA's had some rough spots with this franchise before, but moments like this make me remember why I got into it in the first place.

I originally listed this review as negative because of the DRM. I've decided to relent though, because I think this game truly deserves a positive review. It's not going to be for everyone, but if you like going fast then you'll probably have a good time.

From start to finish I enjoyed every minute of it. The soundtrack was on point, the story was simple but good, the combat system was fairly engaging, and the open zone movement felt fantastic. The fishing minigame is very relaxing and gives you a way to bypass the more tedious parts of grinding if you want to.

That being said, it still has plenty of the usual Sega jank:

- I noticed that a few pre-rendered cutscenes were very low-quality. I'm talking like double-digit render samples and no denoising kind of bad (if you've used Blender's Cycles rendering engine or something similar, you'll know what I mean). And why does Sega need to use low-poly assets for pre-rendered cutscenes? This is 2022, not 2008 lol
- Some of the character movements are a bit stiff in cutscenes and gameplay. This didn't happen enough to drag me out of the experience, as most of the animation is good, but I still felt this was worth mentioning.
- The 2D gameplay segments can be pretty awkward to navigate.
- Some performance hiccups here and there, probably because of Denuvo. These were a bit annoying, but not enough so to spoil the fun.

TL;DR If you're into rolling around at the speed of sound, it's a good place to go now to follow your rainbow. If the lack of polish has you on the fence, I might recommend you wait for a sale and/or watch some reviews before purchasing.

This game is a very fun game to play, with plenty to do and not only a survival aspect (which the game doesn't necessarily focus on but it is definitely present) but also a story that I'm sure is large but I'm not sure how far I am in it. I'm definitely happy that I bought the game and I've enjoyed playing it!

My only problems with it are that the multiplayer servers are annoying to set up beyond the local level (my friend can't connect with the IP I gave him even though I port forwarded the correct port and gave him the correct IP and everything) and that sometimes some of my large steel elevators move to the left by one block at random.

It's a great simulator for all of your universe needs, with very good gravitational physics, visual effects, magnetism, shockwaves, and much more!
