This review will be a bit different from my other ones, I will be talking about this game in depth. So if you want a review like any of my other ones, here:

With that out of the way I warn that you should save this review and come back to it after you’ve completed the game, or if you don’t care about spoilers keep reading.

I found this game through a YouTube video made by jschlatt uploaded on his second channel jschlattLIVE called “csgo moments that will save the environment”, as I’m sure a lot of people did. I thought it would be pretty funny to buy the game, so I added it to my wishlist, waited for a sale and on the 27th of December 2020, I bought the game for 3.62 Australian dollars. And little did I know, I found one of my new favourite games of all time.

After recently finishing my 10th playthrough of Sakura Beach I now fully understand the game.

1, Background
Sakura Beach is a Visual Novel type game with erotic elements made by Winged Cloud studios and released on the 15th of August 2015, with Very Positive reviews on steam it is praised by critics and fans of the studio.

2. H-Scenes
To start I’ll just get this out of the way, yes the game has H-scenes but they are very softcore. But you shouldn’t play this game for those, you should play it for the development of the main characters and the very well made story.

3. Story
In Sakura Beach you play the role of a young man called Seiji going on a trip to the beach with his friends Ayumi and Momoko, over the course of the week you learn about Seiji’s problems at home and the backstory of this epic trio. I personally believe that Sakura Beach’s story is on par with literary masterpieces such as “Berserk”, “Persona 4” and “The Lord of The Rings” series’.

4. Characters: Overview
Sakura Beach hosts 3 main characters: Seiji, Ayumi and Momoko. While only having 2 side characters “Old Man” and “Old Woman” who only appear in 1 scene and comment on two of the characters’ relationship. At the end of the game depending on your choices either of the girls or both will confess their love for you causing Seiji to always reciprocate the same way, this mean there are 3 endings and one includes Seiji getting both girls.

4.1 Characters: Seiji
Seiji is a 16 year old high school boy who is very kind and shy towards the people around him, though we do not see his face he is very well implemented as a main character, over the course of the game we find out that his mother left him at a very young age and so he developed serious abandonment issues that he was able to overcome with the help of his grandfather and his friends Ayumi and Momoko. He lived with his grandfather until a year before the game’s narrative begins. During the mid point of the story we learn that he received a letter from his mother stating that she would like to see him, this causes him to shut himself in and start isolating from his friends which we later learn is the reason he and the others went on the beach trip that kicks off the start of the story. Nearing the end of the game he is forced to tell Ayumi and Momoko why he has been pushing them away which strengthens his resolve and ends his character arc.

4.2 Characters: Ayumi
Ayumi is a 15 year old high school girl who acts as one of the main love interests for Seiji, and is also featured in all the promotional material for Sakura Beach. She is the perfect example of the tsundere, who also has a short temper and is always calling people out for their shenanigans. She has been asked out by many boys at school but has denied them all because of her love for the main character. Ayumi has long black hair that she ties back and red eyes with pale skin. She and Seiji have been childhood friends since a forest trip when they were young, she also happened to live next to him until he moved out of his old house a year before the start of the story.

4.3 Characters: Momoko
Momoko is the third and final main character of Sakura Beach who acts as a secondary love interest for the main character. She has very long blonde hair and blue eyes with light skin. Momoko is somewhat of a bimbo who, similarly to Ayumi, is frequently asked out at school but has rejected all offers because she is also in love with Seiji. Momoko often teases Seiji and Ayumi, seemingly to no end.

5. Conclusion
Sakura Beach is a very well made Visual Novel with a god-tier story and amazing characters, by the time this review is posted I would have finished my 12th playthrough of this game. I recommend it as a Must-Play for any PC Gamer, well worth the full offering price of $15. I know my reviews are not usually this long but I felt that I needed to talk about this game in-depth to truly convey the greatness of it. I left out a fair bit of information and I could go way more in-depth, but I really just don’t feel like it.
