I'll start out by saying that while I do recommend this game, it does have some flaws to be aware of.

Pros:
-Very good graphics for an open-world game.
-Plenty of content to keep you entertained.
-Expansive weapon and armor modding system.
-You can knock people's heads clean off with a baseball bat (or any other melee weapon).
-You can build your own settlements.

Cons:
-Some side missions can get very repetitive (go here, kill this; go there, retrieve that).
-Combat can be a bit clunky at times (better than previous Fallout games, but not as smooth as many modern shooters).
-You will frequently be asked to defend your settlements, which quickly becomes irritating.
-High system requirements.

Pros or Cons (depending on your preferences):
-No level cap, and therefore no limit to how many perks you can select, and you can also max out every attribute.
-Old skill system is gone. All skills are now improved only with perks.
-No karma system or faction reputation (at one point, you have to pick a faction, but up until then, you can do all the missions you want for any of the factions you can join).
-You character can speak! Unfortunately, there is only one voice each for male and female characters.
-Enemy scaling works weirdly. Their damage doesn't really increase, as damage is primarily dependent on the weapon you're using, but their health can increase to ridiculous levels (I'm talking 40+ rounds from an Assault Rifle to put down a high level Super Mutant).

Bottom line:
I have really enjoyed this game and can easily recommend it to most people. However, if you are likely to be disappointed by the lack of true RPG elements (unrestricted skill and attribue leveling) or the lack of a karma/faction system, then you may want to steer clear.
