"is gud" - Written on October 17, 2020 at 29.4 hours

Now that I've played this game for over 1,400 (actually 1460.2) hours, I can make a more educated review about this game.

I will be going into brief details about the price, service, fun, time investment, community and my overall thoughts of the game. Please enjoy!

Price: This game is reasonably priced, but if you plan on purchasing any DLC, make sure you get it while it is on sale. There are plenty of characters from original chapters that can be purchased with in-game currency (albeit at a much slower pace compared to simply buying them with real money). Licensed characters are however, only available with the in-game premium currency (Auric Cells) or buying the entire chapter on Steam. Every three months or so, new DLC gets released, so if you plan on purchasing every chapter, you should wait until they are on sale, which you can save some decent money on (usually older chapters are discounted more than new releases).

Service: This game's service from the developers is average in regards to patches, hot fixes and overall performance. Some Killers (like The Cannibal and The Spirit) have had bugs with their abilities for years now with no fix in sight for the near future. Some Killers benefit from this (like The Spirit and some of her add-ons) while others (like The Cannibal's power itself and add-ons) are a determent. On the bright side, when things do go awry, Behaviour does release information on the situation at hand relatively quickly. While the game does have it's issues, it rarely gets in the way of the game now, unlike in the past towards the game's launch.

Fun: This game is fun, but it comes with conditions. The game itself is more balanced now than it has ever been in terms of overpowered aspects of both Killer and Survivor. The game rewards teamwork on the Survivors end which can frustrate the Killer (however, teamwork is a necessity to win as a Survivor) and the game *can* reward the Killer by disrupting that teamwork or playing in a particularly dirty way (camping, tunneling, slugging, etc). These things can make each side both feel bad, but in a competitive sense, this is how the game was designed. This game can provide a wide range of emotions, from harrowing depths of disparity to the high of clutching what would otherwise be considered an "unwinnable game." It's up to the player and how they feel, whether they want to win or just have fun. The most important thing to remember when playing is that it is always better to play with friends.

Grind / investment of time: I personally have encountered players with over 9,000 hours and many, many Prestige 100 players. While those numbers are intimidating, realistically achieving all those perks and other in-game items should take a few hundred hours. Leveling up now is so much better than in the past and easier too. Cutting down on those hours of grinding has been a major improvement for new and veteran players. If you enjoy the game enough to stick around, then getting those perks and unlockables should prove a fun and rewarding feat to conquer.

Community: This game's community has two sides. One side is very critical and negative about the game and its functions while the other side is very uplifting and welcoming to players. The content creators for this game are some on the most passionate and educated (and very fun too) people to ever grace the internet. My personal favorite to watch is Otzdarva, as his content is not only educational to new and veteran players, but fun and enjoyable to watch too. I highly recommend checking out some other DBD content creators if you're interested in the game, as they are excellent sources to learn from.

Personally: This game can be so frustrating sometimes, but it also has its moments that make me keep wanting to play. After investing so much time into the game, following any news or updates and playing with many friends, I think almost anyone can find a place they feel comfortable in the game.
