Honestly, one of the best MMO's I've ever played, if not the best. The story is quite excellent post-ARR (A Realm Reborn) once you get into the expansions (Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers). The team behind it have done an excellent job simply making the game better every patch.

Along with the story, the classes are all well done with great parity (minus the odd-job Blue Mage which you shouldn't consider a full class with how it has been in previous Final Fantasy games) and never make you seem like you chose the "wrong" class. And even if you ultimately feel you don't enjoy the class you're on, you can always switch and start leveling a different class without creating a new character. 1 character can do literally everything in the game.

I can't touch on crafting since it's not my thing, but the people I play with seem to enjoy it.

The end-game is real in FFXIV, with raids being some of the most fun I've had in an MMO, however its only 1 of the end games someone can do. Others may enjoy playing the market, making their houses as best as possible, doing the fun Golden Saucer events, and more! Even past content, such as level 50, 60, 70 raids (current cap its level 80), are run constantly due to "duty roulettes," mount drops, and crafting materials.

I've put almost 650 hours into this game since earlier this year and, honestly, I just don't see myself getting tired of this game anytime soon.
