I'm very conflicted about how to rate this chapter.

On one hand, this chapter has a lot of good characters with great design, a gripping story that kept me invested the whole way through, cool environments that I would want to visit in real life(Safe Haven being one of the best ones I've seen in this series), and good dialogue that made the characters interesting and more alive than ever before.

Sadly a lot of the good stuff about the game is brought down by boring, confusing and buggy gameplay sequences that are some of the worst in the series.

- The puzzles are a big change, as you won't see a lot of electric pole puzzles the series is known for which should feel like a breath of fresh air as they were getting really redundant, but the puzzles in this game can be very confusing, complicated, or leave you walking around aimlessly before looking up a guide online.
- The chases are a big downgrade, they are pretty short as well and sometimes you won't know what to do.
- This game has a lot of trial and error moments that may leave you frustrated as many things aren't explained in the best way and the game doesn't guide you well either.
~ There are a lot of bossfights here, but they are either anti-climactic, janky or simply annoying. There is no real satisfaction when the boss is defeated as sometimes you feel like you won by pure luck.
- A lot of the new mechanics that are introduced aren't used much or are simply pointless.
- The game is really buggy (I'm writing this review on the second day after the game came out so things may change with the coming updates), so many visual bugs, places where you can fall out of bounds by accident, sequences that don't work as intended(for example, yarnaby is supposed to be with you during the no man's land section, but he never showed up for me so the whole section was free)and a game breaking bug that locks up your game on the loading screen if you reload or die during one section, and to fix it you need to go to the localappdata folder and remove the last checkpoint you got.
- The game is long, far too long. The whole game feels very drawn out to increase the game time (especially the puzzles).

So as much as I want to like this chapter for what it does right, I simply can't. The bad gameplay holds it back way too much which is sad, because I can tell the developers were trying so hard to make this chapter different from the others but didn't have enough time to make it better.

My main issue with this new version is how pointless it really is. The game received a major update last year in June that fixed a lot of the game's many game bugs and technical issues making this new version more of a more graphical update than anything else, but at the same time this version heavily restricted the amount of graphics settings you have available.

This also isn't really an update as much as it is a port of a console version of Chapter 1, nothing was changed because every single glitch that was found on the console version works the same way on the new Halloween Update, it's literally identical.

It all feels super lazy as all the devs did was copy and paste a nearly one year old version of the game on console and simply add keyboard controls to it.

And for some weird reason this version is more unstable for me, as sometimes the game map will just deload and I will be stuck in a void (not even reloading the game fixes it, I have to quit the entire game).

So yeah those are all my thoughts, a very lazy update to the chapter that feels like a downgrade rather than an upgrade.

I'm a long time speedrunner of this game and I always knew this game was kind of crappy to play, but oh boy the devs really upped the ante on this one.

This new update is very buggy, somehow more buggy than the older versions which I ran on for hundreds of hours and it's not just gameplay glitches, but also technical issues like not saving the proper window sizing or resolution, the mouse controls breaking whenever you simply pause and unpause the game needing you to press TAB twice to fix it, and even a unique bug that breaks the older versions of the game by not letting you change the FPS settings properly on those older versions.

The performance of the game is so much worse now too, granted this game always ran badly, but it's a lot worse on this version specifically.

I don't know how long this version was in the works for, but it clearly wasn't finished in the slightest before it was released and so far no bug fixes were announced as I'm writing this review a full month after the Halloween Update came out.

As a person who actually enjoys this game to some degree ( even though it's from speedrunning it a lot ) I'm highly disappointed with this update and I hope this messy version will be fixed soon.

This is like a bad parody game but it wasn't very funny or interesting besides the purple bird that looks funny and then it dies and has a horrible death scream. Don't play it unless you like not having fun

Amazing game. Very touching plot with unexpected plot twist

I'm honestly shocked at how bland this game is, there really is not much variety in terms of gameplay or environments. It feels very unfinished and leaves me very disappointed because i was kinda looking forward to this game just cuz it looked nice and thought it would be an atmospheric adventure platformer, but it's boring as hell, simply put its too empty and repetitive. I hope that there will be some updates that add more content and improve the quality of the game because i simply refuse to believe that this is all the game has to offer. i haven't finished the game yet so i will finish it later but i don't know how much more i can play it before refunding it cuz 15 bucks for this is too much
