A Pleasant Surprise: Cyberpunk 2077 is not Junk
Being a AAA open world game alongside having quite the difficult launch. I actually tried pretty hard to push back at this game. Though as I played through more and more of the game it really started to grow on me. The atmosphere, the game-play, the story it all kind of works together in a way to present the player with a type of story that could only be presented in a video-game. Not a lot of games are able to achieve this. I played the game with the Phantom Liberty DLC included so this may have a different view than those who just buy the base game though I will say that getting the DLC with the game is completely worth it.

I never actually had a chance to play Cyberpunk 2077 before the 2.0 update. I never experienced the horrific launch with all the bugs and missing features what that did entice me to do was not buy the game. As time went on I saw the game receive updates overtime and friends would tell me, "Yeah! The game is much better now!" Dismissing all of that until I found the game pretty cheap on a deep sale I figured, "Why not?" and bought the game and, not expecting much, I did not edit my "V" I played as the stock promotional material Male V. This did not remove from my overall enjoyment of the game though. There were some bugs but nothing as game breaking as people often said in the past.

An Illusion that is "Good Enough"
Having many issues with open world games of today, I wasn't expecting much from having an open world with side missions but to my surprise, nearly every side mission had either just enough set dressing to make it different from the others or were full on side stories that seemed even higher quality than some of the main missions! You have yellow marked side quests, gigs, cyberpsycho missions, and some police report thing. I spent most of my time doing all of the yellow missions and gigs. I did find an issue where the cyberpsycho missions would break after I would "find" the evidence leaving those missions to be broken. This can be worked around via saving before every cyberpsycho mission but, that's kinda silly.

I felt that nearly every mission felt varied enough. What I mean by that is even down to the layout of all the different buildings you infiltrate is different, nothing seems copy and pasted at all. This made the world feel great to explore enticing you to check every corner of every room to see if you miss anything. Hell a lot of the missions give you multiple ways to complete them, making some parts feel almost "immersive-sim-like" which is the best way I can explain that "game-feel".

I see and heard a lot of people not really like the driving in this game but much like the rest of the game, the driving is also trying to tell you to slow down for this game rewards you for taking your time and taking in the nice visuals that almost every camera angle has to offer.

Lots of Ways to Play Your Way
There are plenty of ways to play the game. Once you open up the skill tree the combat really picks up. You can be a sneaky guy, you can be a heavy weapons guy, you can be a sniper guy, you can be a melee guy. I found myself being able to bunny hop all around Night City at the speed of more than half the traffic in the game arming myself with a really high powered double barreled shotgun, I found myself literally playing as "The Scout" from Team Fortress 2. The great thing is, I never thought about making my build, the play-style just funnels itself into how you decide to play the game it felt extremely seamless to me.

Cyberpunk's Got a Lot Under the Trunk
With plenty of content to play through, I didn't find myself "done" with the game even after rolling credits until about 90 hours in and I didn't even do EVERYTHING. I would always find myself going "just a few more gigs" and soon or later it was 3AM! I was absolutely hooked and enamored with the world and game-play. Even if by end-game. I was 1/2 shotting half of the enemies. It's different though because at that point, I'm level 60 and I made my character that strong.

Overall the game is great with a story and characters entertaining enough to keep me invested in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 for the entirety of my play-though. I highly recommend plaything through the game at least once. Just don't spend 60 dollars on it. Don't spend 60 dollars on any game but. play Cyberpunk 2077.

This feels like a Nintendo WIi game in all the best ways possible. A fun short roguelike if you're looking for something quirky.

I highly recommend this game if you like old school arena shooters of old. Some of the best movement to come out. Plus its costs the very low price of FREE. I thought the game was so good that I bought the 5 dollar DLC for it though. Some of the best multiplayer to come out in recent times.

Probably one of the most faithful 1:1 remakes of a game ever. You follow a guide on the original and it matches up completely. Now the game has SOME changes but none that make the game stray from it's original feeling at all aside from ONE big thing that wont be mentioned here due to major spoilers. While the game plays the same, I am a big fan of the completely remade graphics the game brings Citadel Station to life in a way that feels like you're going back to your old childhood home and having everything left just where you remembered. It was an absolute blast to explore this legendary space station once again with modernized graphics. While the graphics are modern they didn't stray too far from the original style either, with a mixture of high detail models and pixelated textures, it gives the game a unique style that sets it apart from most games released today. I found myself feeling a strange sense of deja vu, the entirety of my time playing the game.

This game does NOT hold your hand in any way and is hard as nails but, that's a great thing. I haven't felt this immersed in a game in YEARS. I can see why System Shock is described as one of the pioneers of the immersive sim genre. I was absolutely sucked into the world of System Shock once I locked in. I found myself taking NOTES on what I was going to do next, listening to the audio logs and reading the e-mails intently I found myself FEELING like the hacker from System Shock. The game rewards you heavily for exploration and paying attention the game WANTS you to explore every bit of the map much like a "rat in a maze" as you'll be described as by "Shodan" the main villain of the game all while you're peeking around corners and picking off cyborgs and robots with anything you can find while rummaging through the ruins of Citadel Station. While the map seems convoluted and nonsensical at first, you'll find yourself zipping down the corridors of Citadel Station like it's the back of your hand once you're at the later backtrack section of the game. It's not that bad. The map isn't actually that big, but it's super dense and almost feels like It could be a real place in 3D space.

Unfortunately the soundtrack of the original did NOT make it into the remake. Instead they went with a more quiet ambient style that seems to convey even more of a "horror" atmosphere. While none of it was terrible. None of it was memorable save for the iconic elevator track from the original that DID happen to make it back. Imagine my slight disappointment when I went into the intro and didn't hear a remix of the OG : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CalFsdE4tA

or, stepped foot onto the EXECUTIVE FLOOR and did not at least hear that iconic melody : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOkOCAm-v0U

I'm aware this is a nitpick but, being a fan of the OG I might as well point out the difference. At the end of the day this did not take away from my enjoyment of the game as a whole. Hell! Reactor Cores main melody came back! Not bad!

Now I noticed many other reviews and so will this one will mention the ending sequence, this part gets spoiler heavy. The bridge was designed completely differently. Not the layout but the aesthetic they went for. In OG the entire bridge was overgrown with what could almost be described as like a "cyber flesh" to illustrate Shodan's complete takeover of the station. Not sure why they went with a super clean tech aesthetic this time but playing through that section did not detract from my experience. Now a BIG thing was the final showdown the Shodan. I'm not a big fan of the change they went with this one. In the original you went into a cyberspace flight sim section and fought the rogue AI in her own domain. All while an image of Shodans face starts to superimpose itself onto your field of vision, almost as if she's counter hacking you because you're fighting Shodan in her realm! you've got a limited amount of time to take down the boss and it's extremely tense until the end. I feel like this change removes a lot of the thematic importance that the original held. In this version you're thrown into a cyberspace section on your feet. with a gun. This never happens in the game up until this point and is a case of the game breaking it's own rules for a "le epic finale sequence" that wasn't really that epic. Sure the original fight sucked but the delivery after everything you go through in game is simply high art and to see that the ending strayed too far is a real kick in my shins! Mainly a lot of lost potential to make the game JUST as impactful as the original but they JUST missed the mark. Other than that though, the entire game was amazing.

I really hope Nightdive studios continues to port older games to run on more modern systems. It's how I even played the original System Shock! This remake truly shows their skill to do more than just port but remake games and bring them to modern audiences (without changing them for modern audiences) and maybe even get them to appreciate the originals. This is a masterful remake that only slightly misses the mark. This wasn't made by people that played System Shock. You can clearly tell the game was made by people who loved System Shock. Great work. Literally game of 2023 and it's a remake.

DEAD RISING® ~ BECOME THE MALL
DEAD RISING® was a wonderful experience to behold. The games focus on memorization of spawns and effective routes entices the player to replay the game in ways you don't really see much nowadays. I found myself utilizing the reset mechanic to grind levels until I figured out how the game operated. The survivors you find around the mall will have you racing the clock hoping you can save as many as you can while making it to the next case objective while the amazing utilization of save points really brings the whole experience together to give you a sense of mechanical horror. That being fear coming from the stakes at hand that the player themselves faces. I found my heart racing playing this much more than most "survival horror" games due to that aspect alone.

I really enjoyed my time with Dead Rising though the quality does take quite the nosedive near the ending of the game. That's not really enough to lessen the overall experience though. Dead Rising is another essential classic that I think is the peak of the franchise in terms of game-play, storytelling and atmosphere. Sometimes, there doesn't need to be a 2. Or a remake. With the game literally being only 10 bucks I'd say you don't even need to wait for a sale to get the game. Buy it now. The game aged just fine from all the way back in 2006.

Another great game by Remedy. If you're a fan of Max Payne 1 and 2 you'll probably like this game. I enjoyed my play-through the entire way through. The game is linear in nature but has many off the beaten path details that reward you for exploring the game. The dialogue between characters was entertaining enough to the point I found myself AFK while I would listen to the characters talk to one another until their dialogue was exhausted. That isn't a bad thing. There were parts that made me laugh! That's pretty hard. I felt the combat was nice and snappy and I found myself hitting some quick flicks in no time, I liked Alan Wake quite a bit a wonderful classic of the XBOX 360 era.
