This is by far one of the best Far Cry games, and one of my favorite FPS's in general. The atmosphere is dark and depressing, which fits really well for how the game feels:

Weapons degrade over time, and start jamming more often the closer they are to breaking.

You always have to know how many antimalarials you have left in your pill bottle lest you experience an attack in the middle of battle.

There are no good sides in the conflict, and you're not one either.

After you beat the game, there is no free roam.

I know that it all sounds really stressful, and I dislike games that make me feel stressed too. But I genuinely love this game. I even pirated it at first, then bought it just to encourage more work like this. For an eve better experience, play this game with the amazing Far Cry 2 Redux mod. I'm not shilling here, I just find that this game is even better when it's a bit harder and more realistic (This mod makes you have to use a paper map to navigate in the game, using road signs and landmarks, along with weapon balancing and other improvements.)

It's 10 bucks, just play it.
