My first concern is that to play it a Chinese company has to have kernel access to your computer. No. No. No.
They don't warn you of this, it's just installed with the game, and doesn't come off after uninstall, it's deceitful.

Firstly, I don't understand why this was advertised to me as having, "tight gunplay". The movements are floaty, and the recoil is laughably absurd, moreso than real life even. I don't even understand where the comparisons to Call of Duty come in, its a worse version of Battlefield and that's it.

It's also a complete and utter knockoff of BF2042, with the maps I played having oddly similar elements, (big underground vehicle base with giant elevators, then fight your way into a multi story bioresearch lab, anyone?). They just took elements of various BF2042 maps and stitched them together into a bigger map, but didn't think about gameflow elements at all. That bioresearch lab has you fighting into a large room, but one of the only entrances has you basically walking through a glorified air vent that's impossible to get past because the whole other team is lasering it with munitions.

The Specialists aren't called that, but they all have their own gear sets and specialities, with sassy attitudes and outfits. Their special gear is maybe a little more grounded that Battlefield, but it's not nearly as cool or game enhancing. They are exactly what you dislike about Battlefield specialists without the good parts. The shop is already filling up with stupid skins and stuff too, At least they are cheap.

My last concern is that, as of the open beta, I'm constantly being shot through mountainsides and buildings. I don't know if it's a server issue, client issue, or what, but dying to a person that you never even had a chance to see sucks.

This game is a much worse version of BF2042, highlighting the parts you hate and not doing enough of the parts you like. It's F2P elements will cost you much more in the long run than Battlefield, too. The only cool thing I saw is the weapon modifiers. You can add a grip to your rifle, for instance, but then you can go in and adjust where it is mounted in ways that actively modify your stats. That's the one and only new idea I've seen from this game.

You know tower defense games, this is a great one. Well designed with enough choices that can make or break your run that its got a good challenge to it. Even with the potential to completely screw up your run, you still gain xp to unlock new abilities to take with you next time. Great fun!

Update
Over 300 hours now, almost everything I had an issue with is fixed, (still having server lag issues, one game its fine and the next I'm living a slideshow). Despite that, its still a good game, glad they stuck with it.

You know the hype...its not perfect, but it is fun. I've got over 90 hours into this at this point over the Origin and Steam version. Origin version seams less buggy for some reason, but both are pretty good right now. Get it on sale if you are worried.

Maann... it's really good, but if you have a family this could be heavy. Have a few beers and enjoy it.

This is the most tactic oriented game I've ever played. Communication is key and it can be slow, but with frantic firefights in between, just like real life. The nice thing about this is that the game caters to a more mature audience than most first person shooters, so your teammates will most likely be more helpful and friendly than a CoD game or whatever. I'd definitely recommend it.

Wow.

The people who are somehow offended that this game has the same exact premise as every other Wolfenstein game should do some soul searching. It was in production long before Trump announced he was going to run for office so stop making it about yourselves and enjoy it. It's the 1960s, instead of protesting the Vietnam war our protagonists are protesting the Nazi occupation of the entire world. The American people are going along with the occupation like North Korean citizens go along with their oppressive government... Traitors are rewarded and people that do not comply are killed. Bethesda created an amazing world where all this makes sense, people that have politicized this game would find that even the KKK is defended up to a point and that you as the hero do some horrible, horrible stuff. Almost everyone walks a grey line or is led to believe what they are doing is just (exactly like many Germans during WW2).

Now for the review of the game itself and not the part that idiots cannot see past.

STORY
I played the game all the way through without reading one review, simply because I wanted to be surprised. The story and cutscenes were so great I never imagined anybody would find anything negative to say about it. This is especially true during the last half of the game, where I was compelled to record video to show friends and family later. There is no movie or TV show great enough to even touch what this game did for me emotionally. The music and most of the voice acting helped tremendously, but there was also a lot of comedy that I was not expecting, like a long birthday party cutscene where everybody gets hammered and amongst all the hijinx your pilot loses his prosthetic arm, forcing you to find it while everybody else is trying to sober him up enough to fly you to your next mission. Its better than any other video game story I've ever experienced (including The New Order).

GRAPHICS AND PERFORMANCE
The graphics are a little dated, but nothing at all to scoff at. I would put them on par with DOOM. My computer is fairly dated, (3770k and 32Gb ddr3 ram with a 980ti) runs it at Mein leben! setting, which is the max graphical setting, at a steady 60fps on a 1440p monitor. There have been areas that the fps has dropped to the high 40s but it's so rare I would not count them. Maybe people that are having issues are using AMD? As for bugs I only had one during the very last cutscene where the video stopped playing for 15 seconds but the audio continued. I was shocked to see so many people complaining about artifacts, bugs, and glitches as I had none. I thought there were moments where the game was bugged but it turns out that I was not using my abilities correctly, so if you think it's not spawning enemies or opening a door for you just look around and think of different ways you can use your abilities.

CONTENT
The map design was pretty top notch and the variety was almost as good. There is one particular level that was recycled that I did not much appreciate, but everything else was varied and fun. The guns were fun too, but I feel that they did not create enough enemy variety to warrant even the seven guns you can get. Upgrades to certain firearms make others irrelevant in a way that is disappointing why use the laser rifle when the assault rifle with a scope does so much damage that even mechs take a few seconds to blow up? especially while dual wielding. Like the last game the music was amazing and really set the mood, I'll be adding a few tracks to my phone to listen to later on.

CONCLUSION

This game is epic and I will be doing another play through with a different perk (I chose the bracers where you can tackle people, doors, boxes, etc). It was fun but restricted my playstyle in a few spots, so I'd like to do a more stealth approach next time. Its got some content that will unlock in (as of this writing) 8 days that I cant wait to see. It's the best game to come out in years and I highly, highly recommend it to anyone. Just don't get caught up in the similarities to todays political climate and look at it as a game set in the 1960s (which it is) which continues the story from The Old Blood (which it does).
