The worst of the worst... WWE2k25

Since i read nearly nothing interesting about this yearly copy of 2ks Wrestling game i only bought the normal version anymore.. and still regret even this.
They really achieved the low goal to make the game worse in nearly every regard.

Begin with the showcase, which is not the worst topic regarding they take a view at the big samoan dynasty. Although besides Heymans over the top narration, devs also thought it wise to force you to achieve every goal if you want to not only unlock the least basic rewards.. and to make it even more of a joke include now timed goals in the matches.

In the MyRise 2K thought how about we make the player grind a bit more - lets force him to go through this story multiple times, if he wants to unlock all the stuff..

Then the new and spectacular "Island" modus.. another Online cash grab, which they didn´t even activate for PC players... which are locked with the older console players, because why not...

Fitting to this the grind in the Myfaction is ofc even worse, which makes two modes i don´t touch at all. I also have the feeling they make the few lockerroom codes expire even faster, than before.

The seperation of new console generation and PC also includes the CAW market, as to punish the PC peasants even more, clever devs.. really clever.

Without the unlock dlc also nearly half of their roster is locked, without any possibility to unlock without grinding for days.. which just made me stop care about their crapfest of a game at all.

Conclusio: last time you got any money from me, greedy bums

Date for your life!

The headline describes many teenagers, i guess, but in Date Z it literally means what it says.
You have one week, to get on dating with one of four girls in your new school, before the zombies eat all of you.
Which adds a bit extra to the normal dating experience.

Sadly the game locks three of the four girls, which are romance interests, behind extra dlc, which costs together more then the base game even. Speak of Day One Dlc politics, huh.

So, with the basic game you have one route left. This together with very strange ways of "Story telling" (if you answer the second question in the game wrong, you can already die) is enough to post a warning negative review for this.

The rest of the game would be ok so far, while nothing special in way of graphics, text or whatever. But the rip off dlc just annoys me.

Conclusio: not only the zombies are dangerous here

The game is now abandoned and they are working on a new game. All the game-breaking glitches and AI problems in this game will not be fixed.

Don´t ask questions, you don´t want to know the answers to..

For Professor Patrick Moore the day starts with one dissapointment after the other, his partner, with whom he leads the paranormal Studies at the university, Professor Warden is accused of stealing money. Of course the conservative leaders at the university want to use this to close the whole ghost searching kababb for good. If - yes, if Moore can´t deliver proof for the existence of ghosts - in the next 72 hours, no less. To top this joy of a monday morning, the family of his engaged also informs him, that they have enough of him and the wedding is cancelled.

in typical, good pixel adventure style you lead the poor professor on his quest to restore his credibility, find proof for the afterlife and maybe even save the marriage.. or maybe not. For this he has to get in contact with many dubios characters of 1907 London. The story has good surprises, some (tragic) revelations as well as some humour. To help him on his quest you should not only be able to think of all kind of combinations, for the riddles, but mainly also to read ... much and long texts. Especially for fans of horror literature there are some nice extra boni included.

Conclusio: After Nightmare Frames another well done adventure, which brings the time period it plays in to life. Realistic puzzles, good music and quirky characters make for a good fun.

Conclusio: XCOM-Schlachten im Mittelalter mit massig Einstellungsmöglichkeiten und Abwechslungen von einem erfahrenen Team, das spricht eigentlich alles für ein Erfolgskonzept. Leider schmälern diverse Käfer, sowie nicht ausgereifte Konzepte und eine eher durchschnittliche Story mitsamt deren hölzerne Präsentation das Gesamtbild dann doch etwas. Trotzdem ist Crown Wars: The Black Prince für Strategiefreunde eine angenehme Abwechslung.

Conclusio: Auch wenn der erste Teil von Cyber Manhunt noch etwas „geerdeter“ erschien, die ganzen Kleinigkeiten herauszufinden, welche den verschiedenen Charakteren wiederfahren sind, ist auch im zweiten Teil enorm spannend. Natürlich ist auch und gerade das umfassende Thema von AI, Medienbeeinflussung und Hacking so aktuell wie selten. So bietet Cyber Manhunt zeitweise durchaus auch etwas Sensibilisierung für wichtige Teile unserer realen (virtuellen) Realität. Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass die finalen beiden Kapitel ebenso spannend werden.

WWE games.. they never change..

Not only is the most stupid and out of time character limit for CAWs still in place, but also a 200 MB limit for pictures (in 2024!), which is on top even bugged - so it cries at random sizes before you even reach the unbelieveable 200 MBs. So all the nicely done and careful created CAWs are in fact useless, because you can´t download them - the more elaborated one is made, the more it uses of this idi*** limit. So you have to try and manually delete some unused images (because the delete all option, when you delete a CAW still crashes the game... as in the last years)to free up some 0,01 MB... again - in the year 2024, with Terrabyte HDs and all.. it´s just a joke.

Add to that a lackluster DLC (Post Malone? Bunny again and McAffees Buddies??) an in general wasted opportunity regarding Legends in this "40 years of Wrestlemania", where 6 of the "greatest matches of all time" are from the last 4 years... yeah right.
Regarding the showcase it is also annoying as hell, to have to fulfill every stupid stipulation to unlock half of the game.. and now they include it even in the MyRise story (which has a story to fall asleep), which you have to play twice to unlock everything.

So many annoying things, just leave me to vote it down - also for the general unstability of the game (and an even worse MyFaction match system this year).
There are quite some small improvements, but they stand no chance against the bigger gripes, which many are existent for years.. and even get worse.

Diablo Clone in Romance of the three Kingdoms clothing..

sadly the translation is quite terrible, either it´s straight still chinese text or the english text exists often enough without even one space in big wormlike sentences.

As long as this isn´t corrected, better stay away.

Back to old glory.. mostly

Jagged Alliance is one of those niche games, which have a die hard (sometimes over the top critical) followership .. and is subsequently plagued by a stream of sub par follow ups, since the glory days, which were Jagged Alliance 1 and 2.
One of the main problems was, that it requires quite a bit time and love to bring all the details, which made the first two games so great, into a worthy sucessor. Something not really usual anymore in nowadays game making.. sadly.

But finally the little studio called Haemimont Games tried the shoe, which many others couldnt make to fit and lo and behold, it mostly fits. The mercs have still their personalities, the fights are tactical, the story is useful (and offers even quite some choices) and it is already quite modable (with full mod support on the way... way to go so, you so called AAA games like BG3 or Starfield ;) ).

Of course nothing is perfect, they forgot more or less to implement traders (which was thankfully resolved during further development) and the game spikes quite abruptly in difficulty, after a specific moment in the storyline. If you reach that too early, it can even mean game over for your mercs.

These are just little setbacks though, compared to all the small details and also nods to the predecessors, which make JA3 easily the strategy game of the year and finally a worthy sucessor of the series.

Conclusio: My personal game of the year 2023.
