The game starts out fun, but it eventually just gets repetitive and boring. All the colonies/cities essentially play the same.

There's a lack of city building, you don't really get to design your city, you just assign hexagons to districts which automatically come with steam hubs and even the roads get generated automatically. Important buildings (such as hospitals) just slot into pre-existing slots within districts and due to the game being so visually monotonous they essentially just disappear within the city. Expanding a district also regenerates it's layout, including the position of the aforementioned important buildings and the steam hub. This results in all the cities looking essentially the same.

Things in the game teleport around, appear and disappear. This causes a lack of immersion and connection to your city. This is due to the games speed, weeks pass in seconds, meaning you don't get to see people actually doing things, they are just colorful lines zooming around the automatically generated roads. All of this together creates a big disconnect between you and the city and it ends up feeling like balancing a spreadsheet.

The council and laws are interesting at the start, but they get repetitive and essentially become an annoyance, since there's not really much for you to decide in this game. Your research is constantly affected by constantly needing to please various factions. And if you research something it automatically gets decided on the next council meeting, you can also give the next council agenda to a faction to please them, so laws essentially pass themselves and often go back and forth.

Talking about factions and research there are no faction leaders and there's basically minimal interaction with them, including interactions with the council. When it comes to research, there are many options, most of them are however very similar to others, some being even blatantly worse than others, but a faction may still want it for some reason.

This game also introduces icebreaking, which is something you need to do before building anything. This makes sense due to there being layers and layers of ice and snow and you need to be able to dig down and build on solid foundations. But the issue I take with this that visually it doesn't change anything, there seems to be just a flat texture of broken ice bits on the edges, but there is no actual terrain depth. So it ends up feeling pointless end ends up just as an annoyance.

In terms of the main generator, it manages it's heat output by itself in this game based on the weather and there is no need to manage any heat zones as districts have their own steam hubs as mentioned above. You instead get heat bonuses by placing districts near each other or various city hubs.

The game also isn't well optimized, I should have recommended specifications, but I play on 4k, so I turned it down to medium. However at the start of chapter 3, the lag was unbearable, the menus (like the research menu) lag too and that doesn't help the experience. Considering most of the game is just white and there isn't really any in depth simulation, it should perform a lot better than this.

The 'size' of the game doesn't help these issues either. It's big in the amount of things that you need to deal with and keep track of everywhere in all of your cities. But it's not fun, since it's all essentially the same and gets repetitive. You do get some messages from people, but since there's such a disconnect from your city/ies, you don't really care about them. You can also use abilities on your buildings, that is if you can even find them.

I enjoyed the game at first, but the longer I played the more things felt like a chore with no end and I eventually realized that I'm not having fun and It's actually quite boring. I just can't recommend this game right now, especially not for this price.

This is amazing! One of the best games I have ever played, genuinely recommend it. Honestly I'd even say that this is not a game, this is an experience, you live through it. 10/10

There is no way to reset game progress on the cloud according to EA support, the game comes with DLC that auto unlocks a ton of cars right at the start of the game (like I mean A LOT of cars and it doesn't tell you this anywhere before first launching the game), even after disabling the DLC on Steam it will stay that way. Because of this the game essentially loses any progression and is not fun to play, I was looking forward to playing it, but EA support was unable to help, answer my questions or responded with solutions that the very next support message contradicted. So I am refunding, this is not even worth ~2$.

I have no idea which DLCs cause this and EA was unable to answer that question, so if you want to have actual progression, disable all the DLC before first launching the game, because if you don't, there is no way back after.

The game is shown as free to play on Steam, but immediately after opening it, I get an offer to go to the store. I wanted to play with someone, but you can't do that, unless you pay with some weird in-game currency that you first need to buy for real money.
This all feels like a cheap mobile game, I will not be supporting this, please be upfront and sell a full game DLC directly on Steam or offer a demo before you buy the full game.
(An in-game store could still be present, but at least offer to buy it through steam, like for example RISK does)

You are also basically immediately forced to register an account, otherwise you can't even buy the game, why do I need to register an account? I have my Steam account, most games are capable of using that to identify a user.

The new building mechanics aren't bad, but I would prefer if in battle the bigger blocks didn't act like a whole but broke apart into blocks like in the original game, like this it just doesn't really look good and it's hard to tell how broken your robocraft is since massive chunks just fall off at once.

Also the battles have been extremely laggy for me even when getting high fps on my side and the player character is kinda useless since you always immediately die anyway.

If this game improves I will happily change my review, but for now I can't recommend this game.

The developers are working on fixing the game and have released great economy and detailer updates, which is awesome, keep up the good work!

However the game performance is still really not great, especially with mods, it grinds down to a halt for me, this is something that still needs A LOT of work.

Awesome game!
It's a really unique game, since there aren't many ski resort tycoon games!
I had a ton of fun playing it, I spent over 150 hours just in the open alpha version!

The game now has way more features since the open alpha, more lifts, research etc...

It does get a bit repetitive and the game does need more of a challenge, but it's still far from complete and I am sure all that will be added and improved in the future!

New update review edit: Adds some more advanced skier needs which adds a bit of challenge to the game... finally. It introduces a more polished slope building tool, but this at the same time comes with many new problems and limitations that can be quite frustrating at times. The skier AI still isn't the best either.

Here's my gameplay of the Open Alpha version of the game, where I had a fun with a modded version of the game!
