The Emoji Movie is an animated comedy film directed by Tony Leondis (Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, Kronks New Groove) and features a star-studded cast including TJ Miller, James Corden, and Patrick Stewart. This delightfully wonderful fulm follows the Meh Emoji (Miller) as he tries to fit in a world inside a phone where he does not fit the template of everyone else. The movie shows him discovering himself, and making new friends in the wacky world of the internet! The Emoji Movie demonstrates a clear understanding of the fine workings of comedy. Comedian powerhouse TJ Miller shines in his roll, and brings a lot of laughs to the table! However the main source of laughs in this film is from Patrick Stewart as the Poop Emoji. After doing such films as the X-Men Series and Star Trek, and right off the heels of the dissapointing Logan, Stewart clearly chose to do a more grounded, meaningful role in a movie and we see that here in The Emoji Movie. Anna Faris shines as the mysterious, yet kind hacker, Jailbreak. She helps Meh throughout the many troubles that lie in the land that is the internet. All in all the entire cast shines and there are many laughs throughout the amazing, well developed and emotional script. This is clearly a product made from the love and care of the Sony corporation and is in no way a shameless cash grab as expected. I think everyone should see The Emoji Movie in theaters, because I easily with no doubt in my mind give this film an 11/10, my highest rating ever. May this day, July 28th 2017 go down in history as the day film was saved.
