I like the concept of how you build, but the towers are too weak so your defenses are constantly getting smashed. This is compounded by the frustrating keyboard controls... why can't I just click to send my guy to place blocks? This idea had promise but play Creeper World instead.

This game is almost flawless for what it is. They are totally nailing it. Doesn't feel like Early Access whatsoever. Very polished, great pacing and balance, has clear goals and hits every one. Losing has never been so fun. This has instantly jumped to my short list of favorite games.

At first I thought the unit and building options were overly limited but that is not the case it turns out! It's just about the right number of options.

All the negative reviewers on here need to try playing on Easy first, because this game doth not %$&# around. One misstep, one overreach, and you are probably looking at a colony collapse. (Easy should really be the default option)

I've seen a lot of people demanding that random seeds be replayable - NO!!! That would completely ruin the exploration/adaptation/roguelike challenges of the game. "I demand the ability to cheat! REEE!" Get real.

Tower defense without clear lanes is just goofy. Zombies run across the map or start right next to your endzone and waltz right in, there is no way of knowing what they're going to do. Some levels have the entrances and exits all jumbled up so it quickly becomes chaos. Level selection doesn't tell you what mobs are in the level so you have to just guess and then go to trial and error, then do it all again when you want to replay later or on higher difficulty. I get the disctinct impression this was designed as a FTP mobile game and ported to PC.

Lots of cool heroes and turrets but the level design and info is just terrible. Needs some overhauling to be a really clean TD.

I backed this 3 years ago for $25. Here we are, years later, it's $10 and still not remotely finished. Even if it was finished, it would be like The Sims: Mad Max edition, but without the house building and cool cars.

This is a really great survival/management/exploration zombie game. It's -almost- the perfect combination of different genres. It only falls a little flat on the looseness of it's excecution.

A really terrible quest log makes your goals confusing, with missions and morale issues popping up and disappearing quickly while you struggle to figure out where you're even supposed to be headed.

If the combat controls were a little tighter, and the management tools were more powerful, this would be a perfect zombie survival game. Why not emulate Assassin's Creed for fighting and exploration? And your fellow survivors are almost useless because they will only scavenge buildings when you are already there - Why can't I tell someone to take 3 people and go grab the medicine we spotted in the pharmacy last week? What about a contruction tree, rather than vague descriptions and no hint at what you are building up to?

Hopefully there will be a State of Decay 2, and it will combine aspects of tighter, more specialized games into a really fun symphony of death and destruction. 8/10 would send Alan to his death again.
