I did some more thinking about the diving suit issue.

Make all the Replikas diving slot lock (maybe except for Elster), and create a Gene Splicer "re-skin" (similar to robo-trauma). The "splicer" can only be used by the Replikas and use "modules" instead of genes.
One of these modules will give the Repika's pressure immunity (depending on the tier), but give them constant oxygen low (requiring them to get a diving mask).
Removing the module will not destroy it.

This all in concept, so idk if this will work to your liking.
