Added a third-party anti-cheat 9 years after release which disables online play for all Linux and subsequently Steam Deck users, wonder if I can get a refund.

Terrible 4K support, UI doesn't scale and game crashes on a beefy system when forcing it to be fullscreen 1440p, this is now relegated to the civ game I play on my Steam Deck, so if you have one I do recommend it for that as it plays really well on a Steam deck and its a nice game of its kind to have on the go, but if you were planning to enjoy looking at extremely detailed cities with the ironic feature that allows you to zoom in more and you have a 4K monitor, this game is barely playable.

Edit: game is still delisted in 177 countries, same is being done with Ghost of Tsushima

Bought game cos of the controversy and heard of the valiant attempts of this community supporting PC gaming and going against bad practices, you all know this game is the goat, but the fact the developers were on our side will make this a memorable event.

Well done.

A profound game I am happy to be alive to play to the point of feeling blessed.

An experience I don't want to bother spoiling in a "review" if you haven't played this game, it is a must play, there's not many games that I would describe as profound but to compare what I experience after properly finishing the game, it's feels similar to Metal Gear Solid 2/3, Half-Life: Alyx (with the context of HL2 > Episode 2).

Only criticism would be the lack of outfits and its annoying that the outfit from the DLC is locked behind a very challenging hoard mode thing that you realistically would only be able to complete near the end of the game. this is especially annoying since you won't even get to play as 2B to wear the damn thing until after you beat the game and get chapter select anyway.

Abandoned trash port of a game, the only irony here is that it seems to run better on my steam deck than my suped up PC, there are still terrible stuttering/lag issues when you transition into areas that loads a substantial amount of NPCs, decided to post this review because I've reached Wall Market, and its so bad I'm considering just replaying through the game on my PS5.

I dont understand how SE can be this bad of a developer that they can't be arsed to fix their game, also note there's hardly any graphical options apart from character display amount.
textures and shadows only have a "High" or "Low" option
This game runs on UE4 and there's numerous tweaks out there including a hook that allows players to tweak their settings as they should be allowed to.
But alas it makes no difference, the biggest impact was setting the game to d3d11 but this only fixed the issue until I reached Wall Market.

Leaving this negative review for whoever cares, SE stopped development on this game and does not plan on releasing any patches. Ironically the only patch they released changed the .exe file so you literally have to downgrade the game to be able to change its settings (via the hook some kind modder developed)

Common Square Enix L, the only decent development team in that entire company is Business Unit III (FFXIV developers) I'd bet you that the port of FF16 will not be this bad, and FF7 remake 2 will be as bad as this game.

This is the best RPG ever created, and is a must play, stop wasting your time reading reviews, buy it if you can afford it and play immediately. I recommend playing Paladin as your first time playthrough if you like smacking things with big weapons and divine retribution, and Sorcerers/Warlocks for spellcasting fanatics. Rogue is also great, but wouldn't recommend if you have the hots for Astarion.

This game does seem to be very biased towards Charisma in terms of how powerful you can be using influence and even gameplay in regards to spellcasting as its the main stat for Warlocks, Sorcerers and Bards, and it'll let you discover a lot of stuff you otherwise wouldn't have due to failing persuasion checks.

Game runs beautiful, looks beautiful, plays beautiful and I personally love the up & coming teen spiderman story that this game presents.
However I cannot recommend it, if you own a PS5 buy it for that, because this game has easily reproducable constant crashes when restarting a challenge, starting certain missions and even starting certain challenges, or just transitioning into an area.

If you already own this game, hot tip, run the game in windowed mode when restarting if you're trying to recover a "corrupt" save file.
The file is not corrupt the game is just retarded and can't seem to handle borderless windowed mode. This issue was reported in December, they applied a "fix" on the 15th of February, it's still an issue and its September.
Typical current year game industry shenanigans, gotta love it.

I was asked to revise my review, and yeah kinda resolved the issues I was having, but after finishing the game, it's overall just a cringe low quality rehash of typical spider-man stories. there's some nice set pieces and the combat is definitely improved, but I just enjoyed the overall vibe of the original more, and I think this one plays too much into some really corny culture shenanigans that as a britbong just give me whiplash. Also the introduction of this Dani character with her podcasts or whatever is just a bad idea.

the reason Jonah Jameson was great was because his brash black pill view of spiderman cuts through and contrasts with your actions as a hero, and some of the stuff he was saying sometimes did make you stop and think. But they seem to have thrown that nuance out the window and have turned Jonah Jameson into Alex Jones Jameson, there was even a moment Dani "out-debates" JJJ, its just super corny, her inclusion adds nothing, ruins the apparent original intent of why Peter is consciously choosing to listen to JJJ (which also plays an important part in the big picture of the comics).

I dread Peter actually listening to Dani instead of JJJ but I'll have to play spiderman 2, overall this game was boring af, they didn't do enough with Prowler imo and he was such a small part of the story, the big bad was cheesy, and its weird they didnt pit Miles against the King Pin or something, or atleast one of the old villains to show his journey to becoming a real spiderman, It's just weird that, suddenly, the spider-man is now black, so everything he does has to be completely different to Peter in every single way, from his costume, to the villains, and who he chooses to listen to on the radio, without taking much care on whether this is actually improving the character.

Also seeing Miles new suit, this character really is down bad in the comics+the games, really can't catch a break. I hope something happens with the animated movies that he just ends up somehow replacing other Miles Morales because of how bland and boring they are.

The "Ultimate" Spider-Man game, unironically a great game with a fantastic story and a good twist on all the characters you know and adore.

The DLC has some stability issues, I'm unsure why but Turf Wars seems to be constantly freezing and crashing compared to the main game and previous DLC.
