As a Monster Hunter Veteran, I'm already familiar with the core game play of the series. This makes Rise easy for me to pick up and play, but while it does it's best to teach new players, Rise still suffers from clunky tutorials. New players may be put off by this, and find themselves missing helpful information and side content that make these games much more manageable.

Rise is flashier, and more lighthearted than it's predecessor World, those hoping for more of the grounded approach the main Monster Hunter team takes may not enjoy the portable team's style of wacky and very Japanese antics.

All in all, it's a solid entry in the series for those just looking for more Monster Hunter, but it's theming may not be to everyone's taste.
