God this game is amazing. Explaining would be fun, but don't get spoilers for this game, experience it blind.

I've never written a review before, but here we go. First off, if you're here for gameplay, go find something else to play, because this won't be the game for you. That being said, this is one of the most gorgeous games I have ever played, from a graphics perspectice, from a sound design perspective, and particularly from a narrative perspective. The town FEELS alive, in all the small details, the conversations happening as you run by, to the rustling leaves, even in the tiny movements of the characters, the world drips vibrance. I found the experience entirely immersive, and while the beginning of the game definitely drags a bit, I found the atmosphere incredibly well crafted. The main character you play as, Mae, isn't particularly likable, but I don't think that's neccessarily a con. She's just trying to get through a new stage in her life, and the game lets her, and you, make mistakes in that process. All the characters have real personality, share interesting dialogue, and are overall well written and well rounded. You can explore and find all these small moments between characters, your neighbor sharing her poetry, talking to old friends on the street, visiting the bar just to see whay the two guys out front are talking about that day, I found myself growing quite attatched to the town and the characters in it. The story is compelling, though it takes a while to really get started. I would avoid as many spoilers as possible, I think this game is best appreciated with blind entry. Don't let the slow start to the game fool you though, it is truly fascinating and thought provoking, I would highly reccommend this game to anyone looking for a weird journey who enjoys ambiguity.
