I've never played D&D before, and my biggest fear was that the world would be just unbelievably confusing due to not knowing previous lore or rules. I'm happy to say that didn't happen. BG3 is delightfully welcoming to newcomers, gives you pointers without coddling and lets you go make your own dumb decisions, as it should. the companions are lovely and fun in interesting ways, and being able to respec anyone means you're not limited to anyone due to your playstyle. the replayability is endless - I'm at the end of my 3rd run, and I'm aware of chunks of the game I've still missed.
