Initially I loved Hearts of Iron 4. It was in my top 10 list of favourite games. I bought most of the DLC and played a few matches with friends. It was fun.

As of 1.6 there is just too much micro management and normally I love micro management. The popups are infuriating, the user interface has improved but there are still minor bugs when selecting/deselecting provinces.

The FPS has improved a little with the most recent patch but it still gradually slows down.

The AI has improved significantly since I first bought it. However generals and field marshals still leave gaps in the front lines. They still do not use paratroopers or any advanced tactics. The ships exhibit erratic behaviour.

I have nearly 400 hours in the game so I feel I got my moneys worth. I'm leaving a negative review because the game seems to be stagnating. The only quality of life improvements were the drag and droppable production line and new units will automatically join the front line when you add them to an existing general.

In a nutshell it's worth picking up during a sale.
