Umamusume...

- Gold Ship is drowning in the pool, literally in a coma.

- An event triggers, and my character goes on a fun trip with other Trainer and Meek...

- Meanwhile, my trainee is dying in the school infirmary.

I didn't prepare for the game to be this PEAK...

This is an update review after I finish the game just an hour ago

This is the Armored Core I wanted—AC6 was just the mech game I needed at the time
xD

Wow, what a game! It's not often you see a Mecha Musume game, especially one with this level of quality. Honestly, I haven't seen one like this in years.

So in short (before I start rambling on about it for far too long...)

it's a mix between a classic mecha game with deep customization, like Armored Core, and the vast level exploration of a Souls game. Gameplay-wise, it feels like older-gen Armored Core—a blend of Gen 4–5 movement with energy management, and weapons that feel more like Gen 3.
The exploration is huge, and the story is told in that cryptic, atmospheric way you'd expect from a Souls title. Whether you like that or not is up to you.

But one thing’s for sure—it’s really good!
If you’re looking for a mecha game, you’ll like this.
If you’re into Souls games too? You’re going to love it.

It’s GOOD. Really good!

Now that the TLDR is out of the way, let’s jump into my usual unfiltered rambling xD

Like I said above, it's a perfect blend of the mecha and Souls-like genres. I’m not sure if it’s the first of its kind, but it’s definitely the first one I’ve played—and they absolutely nailed it!
You customize your Nymph's warframe and embark on a journey deep into the layers of The Hod, exploring in true Souls-style fashion.
Resource management acts as a subtle warning, reminding you it might be time to head back to the Tree (this game's version of a bonfire)... Or maybe you’ll take the risk and push forward for that sweet shortcut you’ve come to know and love from years of Souls journeys.

All of it is done so well! You'll be doing all this while surrounded by a hollow, bleak soundscape and the overwhelming presence of a nonsensical, towering hyperstructure looming over you. (Kind of like BLAME!, you know? xD) So the vibe check is a 10/10 in my opinion. And don’t forget… you’ll be doing all of that as a cute carbon-based lifeform known as a Nymph.

It’s kinda PEAK, let me tell you xD

Anyway, I want to talk about the world design of the game first. Like I mentioned, we play as a Nymph.

The whole game is designed around themes from Greek folklore or fairy tales (not exactly sure how to describe it, honestly). You've got nymphs, the Tree of Life, their playful personalities (in this case, their joy in playing war against each other), circles of mushrooms, A metal floor will have a pattern of a wood strum and more.

It’s all just so refreshing and a pretty unique setting they’ve created here.
And oh man—! the lore! It’s genuinely fun to read the item descriptions you find scattered throughout the game. They’re really well-written. A lot of Souls-like games struggle to do this well, but Dolls Nest pretty much nails it most of the time.

Each item tells the story of a time long past, an event you never witnessed—while the place where you find it tells another layer of the narrative. One chilling example: a currency item made from a fellow Nymph’s organ, with a haunting little line—"It could be you, next."

It’s good—but I can’t give the same praise when it comes to how the NPCs are written in this game.
There are a few standout characters, but most of the NPCs you meet speak in cryptic riddles. This is something many Souls-like games tend to miss the mark on. In FromSoftware's Souls games, even the most complex background characters are introduced in a simple, grounded way. And that’s the magic—it’s easy to connect with them, and as you learn more, their stories become even more meaningful.

Here, though? Most NPCs remain strange, cryptic figures that never quite evolve into memorable companions or travelers you’ll remember after the credits roll.
Which is a real shame, because the voice acting? Absolutely amazing. Stellar performances that I can't praise enough!

About the story... honestly, I really enjoy the lore of the world—but when it comes to the main story itself, it’s kinda weak.
You play as a newly-born Nymph, given the task of retrieving your Queen’s body parts (yes… it sounds weird, and it is). That mission sends you on a journey through the multiple layers of the Hod. And until you know. The game is end...

Now about the gameplay :3

It’s more Armored Core than Armored Core 6—let me tell you that again!
It’s everything I wanted: deep stat customization, weight class limits, turn speed (none of that hard lock/no turn speed nonsense from AC6—that sucked). The movement has just the right amount of weight to it, making boosting, dashing, and air hopping feel really good.
The controls? Absolute perfection. (Still you can fire a weapon separately when you duel-wielding tho.)

There are tons of frame parts for you to find (they’re well hidden in the levels, making thorough exploration fun and rewarding! :D)
And those parts are genuinely unique—there’s no single piece that’s the best in every way, which is amazing.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the weapons. There are a lot of them, but more than half are pretty bad and likely end up getting replaced as soon as you find something better. (The problem are from there are too many weapons...)

One thing I really like, though, is how you upgrade your weapons or frame parts. The upgrades only affect raw damage or armor value, not the unique stats that give each item its distinct feel—like fire rate, weapon range, thruster speed, or the max speed threshold a part can handle. That design choice helps preserve the individuality of each piece!

About exploration—this game is huge. Like, really huge. Tons of corridors, hidden paths, and secrets. Some routes can only be accessed with specific frame parts, or by finding alternate ways around.
It’s done incredibly well. It can feel overwhelming at first, but if you trust your instincts and keep pushing forward, you’ll eventually start sweeping through the map naturally—without needing a guide.

It’s the kind of map design that puts real trust in the player’s sense of direction and curiosity. I don’t know how, but they did it!

btw.... The way you can level up your main stats in this game is to kill another npc... PEAK

MUSIC and SOUND

While the game doesn’t feature a soundtrack during exploration, the soundscape is so good. It delivers a strong sense of loneliness—a bleak, dying world you don’t fully understand. The atmosphere of an endless, war-ravaged land comes through perfectly.

And when the silence breaks as you enter a boss arena? Oh man. It hits hard. The music kicks in at NIER level quality, with each boss having its own unique theme.
It’s peak!

Alright, I think that’s about it. Not sure what else I want to write right now… Thanks for reading through my nonsense ramblings :3

A true HOTDOGGER game right here!

And A truly deserve my God game God time badge.

I've been sitting in front of my screen for a while at 3 AM, thinking whether I should recommend this game or not, or how I should write this review...

I guess,
to be honest, I'm gonna give it a yes! I recommend this game, even though by the time you're reading this review, the game will no longer be available...

The devs made a lot of bad decisions before releasing this game, including poor monetization to the point where I thought it was an F2P game with a premium battle pass. There are also tons of grindy quests and an imbalance between gear levels in the game. Bad netcode, a problem with hit register for a high fire rate weapon... And not to forget the false advertising of the single-player mode too...

Even with all of that... I still think this is a good game. I've genuinely had fun for the past 3-4 weeks since the game released.

One thing a lot of people get wrong is that this has always been a Mecha Extraction Shooter PvPvE from the start. They never shifted direction on that—not even once. It has always been like that since the multimedia project began, with the anime kick started by Bandai Namco Filmworks alongside the game developed by Game Studio... (What a name, right? xD)
So all the negative reviews complaining that PvP ruined the game... it's just whining into the wind. Those reviews kind of piss me off. Of course, you can accuse the devs of bad game design, but accusing them for making the game they intended to make? That's just silly...

For what it's worth, this game is trying something new, an extraction game with factions. There are rules of engagement for each faction, whether you're an Association member or a Black Market member.

It sounds simple, but all other PvPvE extraction games have failed to do this. In Tarkov, both PMC factions are meaningless—you just choose one to decide your starting equipment. But here, it means everything.

As an Association member, the focus is on cooperation and PvE. You can still choose to PK other players, but there are consequences—you'll be marked with a yellow tag for your sins, or even exiled into the opposing faction. (There are a problem tho, You can easy get rid of yellow PK tag or buy your way back to Association... One of the bad design...)

For the Black Market faction, the focus is on PvP. Completing requests is harder than for the Association since, if you're scanned by Association players or Cradle mechs, your location will be pinned on the map, making you a target for Association players eager to collect a bounty on you. The way you gather resources is also different from the Association. Sometimes, it's more convenient to ambush other players, strip their loot, and hope they have the item you need, rather than gathering it yourself and risking getting scanned.

Just this faction feature alone already makes the game feel so fresh compared to other extraction shooters on the market! Both factions play so differently that switching from one to the other feels amazing!

There are differences in faction gear and Cradle parts as well. Association Cradles and weapons focus on PvE, utilizing energy weapons, while Black Market gear is designed for PvP, featuring ballistic live-round weapons and Cradles built for fighting other Cradles— (both player-controlled and NPCs.)

"It seems like the Black Market faction has an advantage in PvP over the Association, but the truth is that it's not that significant. There will always be more Association players in matches than Black Market players. By design, the Association encourages players to stick together. Plus, you can easily switch to another faction and complete requests to unlock crafting recipes and stock up on weapons and Cradle parts of your choice before returning to your favorite faction. This system is designed for players to switch around.

It's just fun! It's unique to the point that many new extraction shooter games really need to look back at this feature and continue to improve it on their game.

The single-player mode is fun enough, with unique enemy encounters and interesting lore to collect (this lore is what was left out of the anime). Still, I really hate when a game is released with a half-baked mode like this... it's still not finished. By the time I'm writing this review, you can't complete the story mode or collect all the artifacts for the lore.

And I have to mention Magus—your AI companion, your waifu, and a big reason many people bought this game! xD It’s something similar to the pawns in Dragon's Dogma. Magus is a companion that assists you and learns the game alongside you. Of course, it's nothing advanced; their personalities can’t be changed from their base presets. But the concept is so interesting that I hope they keep it for their next project. Imagine your Magus companion becoming more and more evil every time you PK another player! xD

Such a fun idea! And yeah, that can sum up this game. It has a lot of fun ideas that can't be executed well, but they still come together to create this tangled mess. It's a mess, but it's still a fun game. I dare say the concepts and ideas are worth continuing!

Even when they close this game, I hope it won’t die and instead become an inspiration for other games in the same genre...

This will be one of those games that you may never play. It dares to try new things. Despite all the mess and bad design choices, it's still a fun game. I can't give it the title of 'GOD GAME, GOD TIME,' but I can call it... a fun game.

Now I need to prepare for MH: WILD, BABYYYYYY!!!!

Amazing game! I never know that I need King's Field/Shadow Tower Abyss x Bug in my life xD

The game is short, You can complete the game in 4-5 hrs 100% too. Still its such a fun game. The Rune scape art style are so good, The choppy step frame for animation are done beautifully.

My only complaint are the difficulty. Its a bit too easy, After you done with the fist dungeon, You can basically steam roll the entire game with magic regent + first boss spell... Also the way the game handle stand switching with left and right movement are kinda awkward.

But those con above will surely not affect your enjoyment for sure. Co-oP are fun too! I spend quite a while we 2 stranger, just fishing xD An chat with the word *Bzzzt* at the end of sentence :D Its PEAK

Definitely a God game God time (short game) I recommend it :D

A really fun puzzle and item-fetch quest set against a beautiful backdrop. It’s amazing how much love they put into the game.

With that out of the way... the story feels like it was written in just a few hours and then slapped on top of the game after everything else was finished. xD

Anyway, if you’re looking for a classic-ish survival horror game, I recommend this one. (Though the tank controls are broken—quick turn often doesn’t work...)

This is a GREAT game

Seriously, it blends Survival Horror and Roguelite elements so seamlessly. The story is incredibly engaging, keeping me guessing about what’s really happening throughout the game. And let’s talk about the OST! The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal!
