In my opinion the best way to play this game is with friends - It mainly consists of laughing at your friend's mistakes whilst trying not to make them yourself. In multiplayer there are two main types of gameplay: There's a kind of laid-back "downtime" where you recover your armies and do a bit of expanding in regions where the natives cant fight back :) (someone else is normally knee-deep in sh*t by this point so theres plenty to look at). Then, there's the big wars against other great powers, which often make me feel like I'm in crisis command or something. There's also the scheming and rule-breaking involved with PvP warfare too (which normally happens later).

Multiplayer or not, I do enjoy this game. I can't really put it into words but by looking at it you can sorta tell if you want to play it (meaning this was a pointless review).

DLC policy is very b a d. I mean, they do offer a number of useful mechanics, but the base game is surprisingly playable too. The most annoying thing about DLC paywalls in this game is that the yt guides have them all, meaning their strats often use them.
