Black Mesa is one of my favorite games of all time.

- Very fast and fun fps gunplay. Sprinting around and shooting, taking cover.. the enemy variety is what makes this work the best. You are powerful, but a few good hits will kill you pretty fast.
- The level design is great, there is enough variety in the locations in the Black Mesa facility to never get too old. Reaching the surface brings a breath of fresh air, and then the final third of the game in Xen completely changes the feel of the game.
- The soundtrack is great though can get a little loud, lowering that volume is recommended
- The sound design in general is nothing special but it does get the job done and no complaints

My one complaint would be the AI in general. For enemies its usually ok because of their placements, but the Human Military especially can just do some goofy things at times. Their difficulty comes from numbers and damage primarily. They DO attempt flanks but usually just throw a grenade to get you to move.

The friendly NPCs are the real dummies though. You can command them to follow you or stay put, but they often get themselves straight killed. NONE of them are required, so you won't get a game over. If you take care of them you are rewarded with an ammo stash usually.

Overall this is a fantastic game that the developers put a lot of love and spent a lot of time to make this gem of a game what it is. I Highly recommend it.

Such a classic revive!

If you loved action games of the late 90's this is a no brainer.

Anyone else, this is a fast paced action game with some doom and gloom that is appropriately challenging and enjoyable

Fantastic Story and Gameplay with kickass Graphics to boot! A must buy for any RPG fan

very fun and atmospheric game with plenty of deail. If you have a system that can play this on full specs it is an eye joy =). Feels like you are in the world. On top of that Very fun. A little on the short side(7-8 hours) and stealth parts are mabye a little wonky. For the current price of 20$ well worth it!
