Early Access Review
I'm writing this review because I saw the dev make a comment in reddit, saying he got negative reviews on launch because of bugs and I wanted to offer my meagre support.

This game is loads of fun. I've been playing it non stop since yesterday. I think I have 2-3 more missions to finish the game on the easiest difficulty.

The game plays out as a red alert style tower defence mixed with warcraft 3. You take your captain and what units you can spare to run around your perimeter to secure your base or look for better choke points for your defences.

There's a lot of units available, in fact there's so many units and buildings available you'll probably never use some of them during a game.

The game is pretty hard, but it makes for a very satisfying playthrough.

There are some pathfinding issues but nothing game breaking. I would love to see some lore.

Great job mr indie developer.

I know it's a big ask, but here's what I'd do to make the game "feel" nicer: make it 2.5D like the OG starcraft. I imagine it's a lot of work to do tho.

The game is scarier, more atmospheric and more grimdark in tone compared to CoP, I like it more and feel it's more in line with SoC and CS.

The game is rushed and was obviously plagued by development issues, however the game is playable, the story is interesting, the atmosphere is there and I am genuinely happy to see a product made by my favorite ukrainian studio.

When I wishlisted this game, I didn't know it's set in the Calisto Protocol universe.

I haven't played that game because I thought they were just trying to one up Dead Space and get back at EA (seeing as Krafton are the original DS makers iirc)

That being said, I didn't know I was buying their product and let me tell you that I have been pleased to no end by this game.

It has 0 bugs or crashes. This is unheard of in modern gaming. This is a finished and polished product.

The gameplay is smooth and pleasing, some rooms, mechanics and bosses are challenging, but it never frustrated me like Hades or Elden Ring. It just made me "lean forward".

I best the game on my 32nd run, took me roughly a day. For the price, this is more than enough.

The graphics are cool, and the game only demands like 10gigs of drive space. The soundtrack is amazing and fresh, the dialogue is nice and not cringe.

This is a solid 9/10 for me and a statement by Krafton that game devs can ship full finished products that are fun and fresh, cost under 40€ and do not require you delete something else from your drive just to install.

Bravo and thank you. I have found this game because I was bored out of my mind and no game could hold my attention for more than 10 minutes.

This game is for the fans of Aliens (1986) and Alien 3 (1992).

The game nails the aesthetic and stays true to the look of the second movie in regards to the marines, environment and aliens.

The music sounds like James Horner decided to release a second Aliens album.

The sound design for the weapons is also true to the franchise.

The story is good so far with cornyness scantly present, I'd say it's on par or slightly better than the AvP 2 one

The gameplay is surprising, it's like Xcom but in real time with less emphasis on cover and more on lines of fire (like in Starship troopers: terran command)

It's a beautiful game and I am so happy that we have a decent title for this franchise.

You can split a level in several deployements which is amazing. A mission can be done in one go or 5, which is mind blowing, fun and adds to the immersion. It feels like they exploited the feeling of returning to the POC mission from AVP2 only that now you control if you want to return to a level again and how many times for that matter. I finished the first level in 3 drops.

What can be improved:
A little more polishing, there are some bugs ingame (none game breaking) and in the cinematics.

The cutscene models are not great and seem dated, really lifeless.

Record more dialog lines, especially order responses. A lot more.

I give it an honest 8/10 and nobrainer must buy, it is reasonably priced compared to other titles that have been recently released.

If you tried to play the 2008 edition recently and were upset by the clunkiness of the old game, the remake addresses these issues and makes for a great up-to-date experience.

It's a smooth game, the story is a bit more rich compared to the original (but my memory may be rusty) for example you find a bit more info on Nicole if you snoop around the medical bay.

Isaac has a voice now, fortunately it's the same VA as in DS 2 and 3 and his writing is decent. Isaac's lines are mostly recycled Kendra and Hammond lines, but it makes the characters interact in a more natural way.

It seems to me that the layout of the Ishimura or the "paths" you used to take to reach your objectives have been altered here and there, thus it will seem like a fresh experience. Some of the old jump scares have been preserved and some new ones have been added.

The necromorphs are faster than in the original and they added a few new types from the sequels (I have met a couple of spitters thus far) I liked this change, it made things interesting. I would have preferred the pukers instead, but that's my subjective opinion.

Zero G areas are actually fun now and I look forward to them, floating and fighting in these environments make me feel more powerful than the necromorphs, it feels like I am fighting them on my own turf.

The game looks well and runs nicely on a budget gaming pc built in 2019 (i5 and gtx 1660) I can run it smoothly on high settings with 144Hz.

My only complaints were that the game failed to launch the first time - It froze on the Building shaders thing, had to close the game and restart it and it worked and went past the building shaders part in like 3 seconds.

Overall they did a great job, changes were made tastefully and the original is respected. 9/10, better than expected.
