Terra Nil is a puzzle game about restoring a dead planet using fantasy technology.

The game is divided into four environments, each with two separate scenarios. Each scenario provides its own challenges, and the maps are randomly generated each game. This makes every puzzle a unique challenge. Though there are three difficulty settings, they only influence the resources you have and don't fundamentally change how the game is played.

Each level has three basic phases:
1. Restore the physical environment.
2. Create a variety of ecosystems.
3. Clean up everything you placed.

All in all, it's a satisfying experience to turn a dead environment into one that is full of life. The difficulty overall is on the low end, but some thought is required. Beating every level and fully restoring the planet will take 6-12 hours, making this a fairly short game, though levels can be replayed as they offer a slightly different challenge every time. Achievement seekers as usual will spend a little longer in the game.

As an environmental philosopher, I find this game relaxing and even therapeutic despite the fantastic technology involved and its focus on climate engineering. Though true environmental issues cannot be solved technologically as presented in this game, this does allow an experience similar to Power Washing Simulator, House Flipper, and other games where you clean or fix something for the pure enjoyment of making something better. As a result, this gets a solid recommendation from, me for anyone looking for a relaxing experience combined with solid puzzle mechanics.
