5 minutes into the game, I choose to hug my brother & the game tells me "this action will have consequences"; yeah, this is definitely a Life is Strange game.

I really wanted to love this game and I wish I could rate it as a "maybe" instead. I had it wishlisted for a long time & now that it's finally out it feels.. underwhelming to say the least. I did enjoy it, however, it's incredibly short & feels unfinished for it's price point whereas other games of the same genre would easily give you 20+ hours of gameplay + extra replayability without feeling so stale. I wouldn't recommend getting this game in this state unless they added more content/DLC or if it was on sale. You also can't pet the cats, so that's an automatic downside.

When I originally bought this I wasn't sure if I was even going to play through it tbh, I wasn't expecting to get pulled into this VN as much as I did, but I'm glad I did because it was a great experience. Absolutely one of the best VN's I've played so far on Steam. The artworks and animations were super detailed and incredibly done. I adored the soundtrack, it's been a while since I've stopped and actually focused on listening to a game's soundtrack. It was that good. The characters and themes were extremely relatable despite most of the story being focused on fantasy. However, one of the things I thoroughly enjoyed the most was the the representation that HOTW features lesbians so naturally, it also incorporates transgender elements into the picture exceptionally well without it being Tara's only personality trait, so to speak. When it was revealed that she had transitioned, it was handled very thoughtfully by the authors, which I thought was a refreshing change of pace. There's a few typos here and there throughout the chapters (but the devs do work hard to find and fix them), and there's very little choices to be actually be made but if you can look past that, I recommend getting this game completely. 11/10 would finger gun again, gay disaster seal of approval.
