Surprisingly good. I can tell what the developer is going for when he says he is trying to mix the old with the new. I believe he did a wonderful job with this title. It can be frantic at times but there are also a lot of moments where you need to take things slow and do a little bit of reading, exploring and puzzle solving. I can tell this put a few people off when reading other reviews but personally after playing a bit of this game I am liking the pacing so far.

It's very hard to not recommend this game at the current price. Even better if it does go on sale in the future. I would like if there were more RPG elements but this is by far a unique and fun experience.

Better than Dark Souls in my opinion. More freedom with movement and combat but less freedom with how you build your character than Dark Souls but still a lot of options for how you upgrade your tools and skills.

Feels more refreshing than a Dark Souls game. I would prefer FromSoft go this direction more often. I'm not saying I want a Sekiro 2 but the direction they took this game with provides a lot more of a refined experience in my opinion.

BR games are getting stale as ♥♥♥♥ but this one stands out above the crowd.

Higher TTK than PUBG or Fortnite resulting in battles being determined by "who can aim better" and not "who shot first".

Show Director and viewer relationship actually feels like the Hunger Games take on the Game Master and Sponsors. Make fans with the crowd or the director and you have a huge advantage on the other 9 players. Match-making makes it hard to queue as a show director in order to boost friends. Hard but not impossible unfortunately.

Tracking system is a very, "you can run but you can't hide" sort of deal. Sure you can run for the entire game just zipping across the map but there are so many ways for other players to get your exact location resulting in a very hunter/tracking driven system. Works very nice, camping is utterly useless. Either you run or you fight. There is no hiding in houses.

The take on zones closing never once made me feel cheated like in PUBG or Fortnite. There's teleports on the edge of each zone to take you into the opposite zone and the zones close randomly for the most part which allows you to take the route that you imagine is best and not the route that the game just forces upon you. It was your decision to go to the west zone rather than the east so if you get screwed later you know you could have played it differently. The show director has the ability force you into a bad spot but there are always ways to survive as long as you have enough wood for fires or if you have an electronic that allows you access to teleport or superjump abilities.

Bows take skill to aim with and shoot. The net-play feels very smooth. Never was I shot with an arrow after I got behind cover. Never have I felt that an arrow should have hit someone when it did not. Axe takes some getting used to since the range is very short but being able to time your swings to deflect other player's arrows or snowballs and then going in for the kill has never felt better.

Overall I don't think the BR formula has been perfected because there is always room for improvement but these reasons alone make me feel like it's a massive jump in the right direction. This is the game BR developers need to copy, not PUBG or Fortnite with 100 people and RNG circles and bullets that kill you behind cover.

Just try the demo. It shows a good amount of the game without going too in-depth. If you like topdown 16-bit action adventures such as Link to the Past and Secret of Mana I can almost guarantee you will enjoy this game. No point in not trying the demo if it interests you in the slightest.

Cutest most charming game I have ever played. This game makes me feel like a five year old girl going on a crazy imaginary adventure and for some reason I am shamelessly enjoying it.

In very simplistic terms it's basically WoW arenas meets LoL or Dota 2 style gameplay. Even saying that I feel like I'm giving the game a great injustice but that's the easiest way to explain it for most people to understand.

I hate WoW's combat system (I am not a fan of tab-targeting in general) and couldn't get into LoL or Dota 2 since there's too much going on for my tastes. Personally the combat system in this game is way above LoL or Dota 2 as well due to the fact that you use WASD to move instead of mouse clicking so it allows for better movement while skillshotting.

It's fun in spurts. Matches last between 5-10 minutes and are timed rounds so you're never fully obligated to stick around for a match that lasted longer than it should have. Easy to pick up and play a few games with friends or while waiting on friends to get on while never having to fully commit your time.

I just wanted to say the MT's aren't as bad as people are making them out to be. The game really opens up in Act II when you can finally start to recruit your own Orcs. I've killed an Orc only to have him come back, kill me, upgrade to legendary and be promoted to a Warchief. It's rare but it does happen. And I was in turn able to dominate him and have him join my side. Not to mention you find a ton of legendaries/epics just through playing the game and sometimes they aren't even as good as normal Orcs you may find due to their weaknesses.

The MT's are there to reduce the grind for the final chapter. It's not necessary to complete the game or get the best end result. It just allows you to buy better Orcs instead of having to look for them yourself or send the ones you already have out on missions to get them stronger. From what I have seen they can gain up to 7 levels (maybe more) for one easy mission and you can even assist them to assure success. And it's a lot easier to get a worm to give intel and pick Orcs that way rather than to rely on boxes.

The online function is also there if you really want loot boxes for free, as well as daily quests which do give cash currency at times. A good bit into Act II you open up the ability to siege other people's fortresses that they set up with their Orcs. This in turn gives you gear depending on how well you did and points to redeem for spoils of war chests. I've only gotten one Spoils of War chest since I have mostly been playing the storyline but it seemed slightly better than the gold chests that you can buy off the market. It may have been luck, but the point is there are ways outside of MT's to earn what everyone is complaining about. Like most games, MT's are just a means for speeding up progression that you can easily do yourself if you just play the game rather than spending more money than you already have.

Can the game get repetitive? Yes, absolutely. I feel like I might only be half way through. After 30-40 hours most games are going to get repetitive for most anyone. Don't get me wrong though, there's a lot of variety in the story missions and what you can do in the open-world but a lot of it does revolve around killing and subduing Orcs. If you don't enjoy the battle system the game probably will not last long for you.

I feel like the base game is really good but too many poor decisions ruined the experience and killed their own player base. This is one of those instances where a little patience would have gone a long way, if they waited to release the game in a better state it could have been a success. Instead they opted for a cash-out and released a game with hardly any online functionality causing the game to die in the first month. A game that's main focus is PvP and meeting other players. Genius.

On sale it's still more expensive than the original $24.99 that this was marked at when it first came out..

Then Bethesda realized they can probably cash grab even harder since I guess maybe FO4 sales didn't meet their abnormally high expectations.

Thus the new $49.99 and the excuse of, "but we're working on more than we initially planned" when what comes out as an expansion is of lesser quality than some of the quests you can get from mods, FOR FREE.

How to combat this? I know!! Let's make it to where mods wont give you achievements! Even though most people use mods for immersion and usually add to the difficulty of the game rather than taking away from it.. (Darker nights, harder survival mechanics, weather effects that really mess with you, etc.)
