this is an amazing, creative game that is absolutely wonderfully written, both in terms of characters and horror.

one thing i feel a lot of people dont give this game credit for is that all of the characters feel incredibly human and realistic, subverting their intended tropes wonderfully by exploring darker subject matter that other visual novels usually dont dwell into. not only does the game do this with captivating and engaging writing, but also in a deeply realistic and thought-provoking way. even without including the additional content added in doki doki literature club plus, the characters in this game noticably had a lot of care put into them to represent the consequences of their problems.

aside from characters though, this game is also an absolute staple in the psychological horror genre for a very good reason. its use of unsettling imagery and dialogue is INCREDIBLE at keeping the player on edge, especially with the usage, and at times, the complete destruction of the fourth wall.

and all of this isnt even including other aspects of the game that were incredibly executed, like the art direction and the music.

overall though, i would recommend this game to both people who appreciate visual novels, and people who are looking to get spooked. its truly an experience that combines both the elements of a cutesy visual novel and an existential psychological horror and gives out some of the best of both worlds.

its free, it basically has infinite content, and yeah in general its just pretty good (could use some major optimizations though)
