This game is amazing. If I had access to this when I was a kid, I would have played this for thousands of hours. If you like games where you build vehicles, then PLAY THIS!

This is an AMAZING game! It's an ORIGINAL concept, something hard to come by in today's gaming landscape.

The experience starts off rough, in my opinion, the hand-holding tutorials infuriated me to no end, and it took me out of the experience entirely. DEATHLOOP also has NO save system, no quick saves, the only time your progress is saved is when you complete a level by exiting and going back to the ready screen. This is really frustrating if you don't have time to complete/explore the full map you are on, and ESPECIALLY if you crash, because you'll have to do everything you just did over again. This is less of an issue when you get further on in the game, have explored most of what you need to, and know where you're going and how to do it quickly. The game also has a number of technical issues, the optimization is not the best (the lowest setting you can select for fog is "high", there is no foliage/grass option so even at lowest settings you see grass from like 100 m away which is unnecessary, you can't even turn off ambient occlusion..). The game also features DENUVO which is notoriously trash anti-consumer garbage.

If you can get past those issues (I believe in you) and/or if your rig can run it fine, there is a VERY enjoyable and even rewarding experience to be found here. The game is essentially an FPS puzzle game where you sometimes have to duel another player (or AI if you're offline). It's an extremely fresh twist on the expectations we have grown accustomed to from similar Arkane titles like the Dishonored series and Prey (2016), and actually takes place in the far future of the Dishonored timeline. By the time you have completed a full day's loop for the 2nd or 3rd time, you have basically everything you need to start playing how you want. Instead of having a defined series of actions/levels like in Dishonored, DEATHLOOP lets you choose what you'd like to accomplish for the day - investigating leads on new weapons and gear, noticing and exploiting tangential stories/events occurring with the lesser inhabitants of Blackreef (Eternalists) for your personal gain, or focusing on solving the greater mystery of Blackreef and its de facto rulers, the Visionaries. Each loop is basically analogous to one mission from Dishonored, except you are the one choosing what happens/where you visit next, 4 times a day/loop. There are 4 maps that each change depending on which of the 4 times of day you visit them, and obviously things you do earlier in the day can alter maps you visit later in the day. Exploring and investigating can become difficult when Julianna is invading you, and unless you're confident and/or don't care about looping, you basically have to stop everything to fight her, which gets tedious sometimes, but that's kind of the point, gameplay and story wise. When you are allowed time to follow leads, explore new areas, find intel and unravel secrets, hidden areas and new routes, you'll enjoy trademark Arkane storytelling in arguably their most interesting setting to date. It feels great to figure out something before the game spells it out to you, but on the other hand it's kind of awkward when you don't piece something together and Colt somehow does and you get the solution to a part of the puzzle "ruined" for you, even though that is understandably necessary.

Playing as Julianna is also lots of fun, its sometimes unfair because clearly the person you are invading has no idea what they are doing, and other times the P2P connection is awfully laggy and makes it impossible to play properly, but when it works it's a lot of fun, and the dynamic between her and Colt is basically the heart of the experience in my opinion, especially after you break the loop and gain greater understanding of their relationship, at that point it's actually beautiful and heartwarming.

The soundtrack is also bad ass, easily contending with the legendary soundtracks of Dishonored and Prey.

DEATHLOOP is actually a love story about violence (I would elaborate but I don't wanna spoil anything) and I adore it to no end. This game is unapologetically different and it's great. I wish we had innovations and fresh takes like this every year in gaming. If you like Arkane's previous games, please give this a try, for your sake -and wait until you have and understand the ability of infusion before you judge it fully, because otherwise you don't understand what the game is trying to do.

this game gets worse everytime I play it. the gunplay is really awesome but jesus christ it has been a decade since I've seen a game this good be so stagnant in terms of adding content the playerbase wants.. its worth the price on sale, but do not expect any improvements, because every update adds a couple cool things and a couple annoying problems that won't get fixed

amazing game! this game is similar to dark souls but you will have a better experience if you forget about that and go into it without those expectations.

This game is surprisingly complex and extremely rewarding. This is WELL worth the time investment it takes to learn the ropes

This game is phenomenal. It carries with it some heavy baggage, somewhat outdated combat, poor graphics, awkward cutscenes and voice acting, a ton of bugs. With some mods, it can be improved quite a bit, and I'd recommend this game even if you didn't want to install some mods, aside from a couple of community bugfixes. Witcher 1 is well worth the hassle and period of adjustment, you can easily get used to it in a couple of hours. The story is AMAZING, the quests are MEANINGFUL, there is plenty of content and you can truly sink yourself into the world despite the flaws.

Highly recommend playing this.
