Early Access Review
0.2.0 update is god awful. I'm relatively new to PoE, but even I can feel the difference only a few minutes into the game. I get adding a roll and making combat more methodical, but this is not it, especially once you get to higher levels and want to break the game. Nobody wants to spend multiple seconds fighting one enemy. That's not the type of game this should be. We want to clear hordes of enemies at blazing speed and break the game. That's the appeal of PoE. And you blew it. I want to like this game, to join this community that is so passionate. But right now, I just can't, and that sucks.

I recommend it if you have a high end rig. I do, and I personally haven't had any problems, but that's because I put more than $2k into my PC. I shouldn't have to do that to run the game. I hope for the rest of you who aren't in that position that Capcom fixes their garbage optimization.

However, I am basing this game off of its as intended state. And I think it's fantastic. The gameplay is still the Monster Hunter that I love. Handler is less annoying, the story is still a nothing burger until the end with THE MOST DOPE FINAL BOSS EVER, and the core loop/grind is still great. I'm very much looking forward to the content Capcom pushes out in the coming year. The online system is absolute garbage, and whoever came up with it needs to be fired. It shouldn't be this hard to play multiplayer with my friends. But once connected, it works like a charm as intended.

TL;DR On a system that can handle it, this game is fantastic. 8/10. Hold off for performance updates if you don't have a high end system.

Many people are going to buy this game because of Darkest Dungeon 1. So if you liked DD1, what was it you liked about it? Well, like everyone, you probably enjoyed the moment to moment gameplay. The turn-based combat, the stress mechanics, all of it in that game is still fantastic. But what DIDN'T you like? For a lot of you, why did you never finish the game? Because of everything else around it. Grinding for hours upon hours just to lose everything to some bad RNG. And then you start the process all over again. I love DD1. But its pacing is atrocious. I love the gameplay. I despise the grind and the feeling of losing everything because of something out of my control.

Darkest Dungeon 2 is the answer to every problem you may have had with the original. Instead of random hit chances, skills can apply tokens that give characters a 50-75% chance to dodge or reduce the damage of an attack. Instead of the grind, the game is now run based with a steady progression system via slowly earned currency. While it does remove some heroes from the original, parties with multiple members of the same class, and the management of the hub, I believe these are worthy sacrifices to refine this game's overall feel to a perfect sheen. If you enjoyed the dwindling resource management, dungeon crawling, and don't mind the grind of the original, go play that. It still remains a fantastic game. But if you want an overall refined experience that fixes the few issues of the turn-based combat and the progression, buy this one. Trust me, you won't regret it.

When I was in high school, I had to ask myself if I wanted to continue to put my time and money into video games. Were they just mindless entertainment now? Sure, I knew they had good stories sometimes, but was that enough to keep me hooked?

Then along came Pyre.

I initially watched a YouTuber play through the game. And I was captivated. I was enthralled. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen. I had played through and thoroughly enjoyed Supergiant's other games, but this...I don't know why it spoke to me so much. I pirated the game initially since I didn't have a job, and then I bought it here as soon as I could. I would buy it more times if I could. Pyre is the most hidden gem I've ever seen. It restored my faith in games as an art form, redefined what a game could be for me. I cry ever single time I get to the ending. I've had other games do the same since, but this one was the first. It saddens me deeply that so many people only knew Supergiant from Transistor, then Hades. Because so many people will not experience this journey, this utter masterpiece of a game.

This game changed my life. Please, if you are in any way on the fence, play it. It's magic 3-on-3 basketball with the best adaptive soundtrack ever made. How can that not be fun?

Don't get me wrong. The story of A Woman's Lot is still really good. There are cutscenes in here that gave me chills like nothing else. And at the end of it, you get a really good shield.

But it is not worth it whatsoever. I have never been so infuriated with a game yet so determined to push past it because the base game is so good. Invisible walls, outrunning and sneaking away from enemies by the skin of your teeth. You will die over and over and over again. You will run one way only for it to say that isn't the way the game says you should go, and you die because the enemies sent a patrol. You will spend an hour methodically sneaking in a ditch just out of sight, only to hit the invisible wall that says you went too far and got shot by an arrow. And you will do so much insufferable stuff only for it to be all for nothing in the end.

On the plus side, it really puts you into the crushing defeat of Theresa. But I play this game to have fun. This isn't. Forget the shield exists. Just look up gameplay on YouTube.

I suffered through foot fetish dialogue for Panam. Panam is worth it.

The last truly great Assassin's Creed. A masterpiece of combat, movement, exploration, and an extraordinarily dense open world. I would give up visiting Egypt, Greece, and being a viking in a heartbeat if it meant the series returned to this formula. I look at Origin through Valhalla and I see the butchery of a once great franchise, a truly captivating fantasy. Now, it's reduced to garbage RPG loot and a movement system that's worse than the first game in the series.

I genuinely thought I was a kind and caring person and didn't realize I was an emotionally manipulative psychopath until two months after playing this game. 10/10, made me ugly cry at that one moment near the end. If you played the game, you know the one.

Had a 16 service star artillery truck player where nobody could reach him. One service star is 100 kills. Everyone hated him. His own team was telling him to stop because they knew it wasn't fun for us. After coming to one of the closest ends I've been in, I say "16 star arty truck, never felt the touch of a woman." The guy leaves, denying himself experience. The in-game chat erupts into "VICTORY FOR ALL!" God, I love this game. Absolute chads here. (Watch out for hackers though, and expect to be put in an EU server if you're American like me. Get used to 114 ping. Still fun.)
