I have been playing this game since I was about 10-12 so I have 10 years experience in the game altogether. I was really happy, when the game was released on Steam hoping that more people will join, as in 2010 the game have started losing players compared to 2007-2008. The game did refreshed thanks to Steam but it didn't really regained it's former glory. Of course MMO games are changing by they years, players leave, maybe coming back for time-to-time and also other new players get into the game. Just take a look at WoW and you will catch my meaning. However, the game slipped down the slope, as more and more veteran players left the game forever, and new Steam players also left the game, because they didn't find the game interesting or entartaining.

Almost 10 years have passed since the game was released on Steam (jesus years flying like crazy), and I can tell you the game became just worse. As other people have mentioned Poker ruined the game. Yes, partly indeed, as you can make millions at a poker table, which is not a bad thing, but the "rich" are not interested go on pillys or SMHs because they can literally win 10x times more at poker tables than on the sea. But the main problem is not this. The problem, is that you have to buy doubloons with real money, if you don't want to loose your pirate. It's understandable in a way, because the game is ftp but the servers are requires money to run. But since I made a pirate in 2007 at the age of 11 I don't think it's a fair thing to ask children for money, if they want to save their pirates. And I think most of the players did leave the game, because they havent bought doubs but their pirate got deleted, and they didn't wanted to restart. I would be really happy if I had my 13 years old pirate, since this game was literally my childhood. Also gained some trophies which are impossible to regain since Puzzle Pirates Adventures are closed. During this time I was so happy when first managed to save 20k for a sloop, and I had my own ship, I saved some money for the SMH badge, which costed 5 doubs - 5.000 poes (now its 15-20k) and was able to get more money during SMH than pilly, as pilly paid 300 max 6-700 poes for each battle. Now my pirate is sadly gone, I also made a new one in 2011-2012 got deleted again. I created a new one in 2018 purchased some doubloons I still have it. Yet I don't play all day long, as the number of players really low (200 max - nowadays its 800-1400 but who knows what happens after Covid), so you literally cant make a penny sometimes.

But after hours playing in the past few days I also discovered that the main problem is not the poker but the f.ing loot boxes! Yes! The developers for some reason brought the freaking loot boxes into Y!PP. You buy some doubloons, and you can get premium lootboxes, for premium clothes/ships/fams you name it. Fams are pretty expensive, most of them 2-2.5 millions, and rarest one makes it even more expensive. So as someone can sell these ships, and fams for millions, and also they can sell the doubloons for poes, people got freaking rich, the inflation is really high. People only trading with ships and fams. The economy got broken, no one wants to run stalls, because no one wants to work. It's really sad where this game come into. Money is not valuable as it before, so people are not forced to work, run pillages or SMHs. I hope this game wont shut down as Club Penguin, because this was my favorite game from Miniclip.com from the golden era of Flash games.

I also hope that the developers will rework this loot box system, as it literally broke the game. I just made 150k at blockade within an hour yesterday. I have never managed to make so much money during one run.

The game itself is really charming and awesome. You can invest your money in your own shop, finding fruits and other goodies in islands during foraging, you can craft items from raw materials if you have a stall, and sell it for profit, you can also own an island, an inn etc. So the game was really ahead of it's time. There's no such MMO out there like this one. But at its current stage the game is just really dead. I also wonder if the graphics could be reworked as not a 3D but as a 2D model with nicer graphics. I love this playmobil style, but younger kids wont appreciate it.
