For some reason I feel like this game is sort-of Euro Truck Simulator 2, but in space. I get back to it pretty much every two weeks or so, whenever I feel space mood.
The base game... It's only about 60% of the whole game, sadly. You can travel and explore places, you can transfer data/cargo, you can exchange stuff to earn money, you can shoot at other ships and become a pirate or you can be a good guy and protect the space. As someone said, the Horizons DLC is additional ~40% of the game, since it adds some proper crafting (IIRC), planet exploring (not sure, don't quote me on that), upgrading and now multi-crew support. But overall, I like this game. Whenever I feel the space mood, just to cruise around in space to see stuff, or just to spend some time doing stuff, it's fun. I'd recommend at least trying it, if you like space. Like one person said, "Space. It's so... Beautiful."
(But, to be honest, I'd recommend getting the game with discounts, if possible. 25€ for base game and another 25€ for the (almost mandatory) DLC is quite a lot. Hopefully, next updates will bring even more proper content to do.)
