Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is a very short (say, 3 hours) puzzle platform game that features a melancholic storyline. The puzzles are more like little detours you encounter along the way to show off the two stick mechanic, and the storyline is more a madlib nordic fairytale for four year olds.

For a game that is lauded for its great story, I have a hard time finding it. Why did the younger brother saw his mother die? Why is the father sick? Why do two brothers need to go on a perilous journey when there's an entire village? Why is there a tower, with a bird in it, on the end of a crumbling bridge? THERE IS NO STORY. IT'S ALL A LIE. you're just walking around, stumbling in to increasingly random situations. No continuity. There's a bird that you get to see twice, though, I guess. There's that.

With the nordic Simlish, the constant cutscenes for 'story' that is just you waiting for a really slow pan to stop, and the endless walking into scenery with the brother you're not paying attention to, I have a hard time pointing to one specific point of the game that is the most annoying. Oh wait, no, I know exactly what the worst part is.

The very first 'puzzle' you need to solve is a bridge you need to draw up. This takes more than a full minute. More than a minute to sit there, pressing a button, watching the bridge edge up ever so slowly. You can't do anything. If you let go, you get to do it all over again. You sit, thinking. About nothing, everything. You will begin to contemplate whether this game has won even one award. Contemplate your own existence.

Bridge is halfway. Are my eyes bleeding? It won't be long now.

Whatever. It was ony three bucks, so I can't complain! It is very pretty!
