Legendary game. Great idea by a single dev.

It's gotten a lot better and getting past level 16 is not a problem. There a great player base with quick matchmaking. All that it needs is a real community. I hear people communicating in VOIP all the time, it is great with friends. Played from when the game first came out nearly; it plays so much better than it did performance and gunplay-wise. $30 is just a touch more than I feel comfortable paying for a multiplayer only game but I can say it's worth it with how far it's come.
