So far
I have beaten R3make now on assisted, standard, and i'm about halfway through hardcore.
If you are an RE fan, I would imagine that you will enjoy this remake quite a bit. Now, I got into resident evil aroudn the RE4 gamecube edition so I don't have the nostalgia factor of the original trilogy, and I am aware that it impacts my opinion, so just keep that in mind.
This game is not long. The first time it took me around 3 and a half hours, and i was exploring quite a bit. There is around an hour of super good cutscenes so it feels shorter than it is. The replay value is superb but not quite up to RE2 remake quality.

I honestly don't think there is $60 worth of content in this game, maybe like $40. I would say this game probably deserved to be a farcry blood dragon style DLC for farcry 3 - that would have been a lot more worth it. If Capcom releases some skins, an S+ rank, additional modes, or just more content i'd be willing to change this.
Ultimately, wait and pay $20-$40 and this game will be perfect for the price. Until then, just go play RE2 some more and hope Capcom remakes re4 in the resident evil engine
Happy hunting,

EDIT
it took me 33 hours to get every trophy on this game. do with that what you will, its still fun as ♥♥♥♥,

I'm kind of biased because I love the Farcry franchise, but I just thought this game was excellent. I only with I had a better GPU to be able to see the vibrant scenery more fully. A lot of worthwhile missions and side quests, and the mechanic of discovering them via talking to people and finding notes makes it feel a lot less like a hunt and search game (farcry 4 which I actually also loved)

Super self aware, lots of replay value. I highly reccomend.

Dang, I love this game. Originally I had this game for ps3, and played to 100% completion because I was so enthralled. When I ascended, it was one of the first games I bought on steam and I promptly played it back to 100% on the PC.

Essentially, I think this game is a litany of small improvements on farcry 3 that make it a lot more effective as a whole. This combined with a scenery that is so conducive to open world, and programing that is nothing short of gorgeous, you'll find yourself falling in love with Kyrat as you kill your way to Pagan Min.

Keep In mind as you read that I love Farcry, Tibetan culture, and am super cool with repetitive gameplay.

Pro's:
- addition of the grappling hook to make mountains not insanely frustrating
- easier access to wingsuit than in 3
- great gun assortment. Expands on the repertoire from 3 without removing your favorite guns
- addition of "clean kill" for hunting thta gives you additional skins
- addition of forts as well as the pre existing bases. Provides a super fun challenge if the bases are a little too easy)
- enough collectables to make the world feel full
- Best villain (yet). Pagan min is fantastic. Everything about him exudes power and control, and one of my favorite ideas in 4 is that you come to realize as the game goes on that the heroes and villains aren't as black and white as you may have initially thought.

Cons:
- repetitive game play. I'm not the first to point this out and I won't be the last. To get the fullest experience of the game, you have to love repetitive game play. I happen to, so I love this game. I still reset the outposts every few weeks and have another go around Kyrat!
- you can't start a new save file without deleting the old one. For a game this recent, that's weird to me.
- controls on the controller are hard. But you don't care about that! you've ascended! BUT REALLY DON'T USE A CONTROLLER
- sometimes the panthers or bears will maul the person I'm supposed to protect directly as I talk to them, so I instantly fail the mission. This is Hella comical but not great game design I suppose..

There are probably more I'm leaving out but honestly, if the game is on sale at all its 100% worth playing.
