A game that rewards patience. Certainly not for those seeking a No Man's Sky experience, the complete opposite of an ADHD sensory overload.

The start of every X game is slow. You need to be prepared to sit down, work out a game plan, and overlook a number of bugs & UI issues. Once you get your head into that space, this game is extremely rewarding. It cannot be overstated just how much joy it brings me to slowly build a station, and start snowballing to a point of complete freedom.

X4 is like X3 in that the core experience is still there. However, they have made a number of improvements to core concepts. Station management is better. Ship management is better. Mission management is better.

Wing management is worse, although the AI does take care of a number of issues that plagued previous X games, I've found the lack of hotkeys with regards to wings under your direct control to be frustrating.

The map is smaller than previous X3 games I've played (Terran Conflict & Reunion), however it's still big enough and I don't feel like it's too small.

Flight & combat is responsive, and enjoyable, just like all previous X games.

Overall, a really good entry to the X series. If you want The Sims + Space, buy this game.
