Yes I would recommend this title.

THE UGLY:

Lets get this out of the way so we can review a very cool game.

There are a few very valid complaints you will see from other reviews. Mainly, that Asobo and Microsoft have the downloads tied to their own servers. This means that you will download the launcher like a traditional MMO, and then download the files through Asobo's servers. A major annoyance, for one this counts as game time, so many people have been screwed out of refunds in this manner. Their servers are also not the fasters, as we sit I am getting 64 Mbits and each single file must be unpacked and repacked during the update process.

There are some performance issues:
1. They didn't have the forethought to build this ground up with DX12. This game is VERY expensive on the hardware. Even my 3090 can take a performance hit; however, a lot of that is due to the fact that the engine doesn't share the workload appropriately.

2. There are quite a few CTDs with no known reason (no log/error).

3. The game has a noticeable frame skip which occurs at random. This is very present when at airports and going through startup procedures. I would assume it is in relation to rendering of airports.

THE GOOD:

Currently this is the most complete flight simulator. It is also constantly receiving updates from both Asobo and the community. There are also several study level aircraft available with some searching. For starters I would recommend getting a hold of the A32NX aircraft by FlyByWire - this is a much better version of the A320NEO which is included in the game.

There is a lot of good to go around. This is definitely one of the coolest places to just explore the ENTIRE world. The photo-geometry allows you to see buildings in a 3d representation. It's pretty amazing! Being able to fly over areas I grew up in and see accurate representations of places I formed memories is pretty freaking cool!

I have personally really enjoyed being able to fly over the areas of fires that I fought while working as a wildland firefighter. It allows you to see what your work was all about.

Overall the detail put into this game is extremely in depth. Weather systems and live air traffic! The ability to pick a live flight and recreate it it pretty cool. Now with the CRJ series on the market this is a much more realistic way to go about learning regional air routes.

There is a lot that this game has to offer!
