A game that comes within a hairs breadth of wasting your time, just to knock it right out of the park right after

Also look up 2B's voice actor before playing

A year after the success of Mass Effect 2, Bioware tried to do the same with Dragon Age 2, they very nearly succeeded and its a game worth playing, but this is more of a "Dragon Age: Hawke" than Dragon Age 2 and the ending is a mess, but otherwise a great middle ground between Origins and Inquisition

Unfortunately the companions suck but you can at least kill them off

I can only honestly recommend the story, not the gameplay
Anyone that tells you the combat in this game is a "Lost art" or is in anyway good should be ignored, it plays like the Wish/Temu version of classic World of Warcraft, couple that with weird and random difficulty spikes, and how much combat is used to pad the game out, by the 20 hour mark you'll be done with it

This game has tons of content, but way too much of it is padding, play the game on easy and use a character build and just enjoy the story because the combat alone makes this game a double edged sword, Mass Effect with swords, this is not.

Update 14th May - Sony has said they're not going forward with account linking but has yet to lift the restrictions on who can actually buy the game, this review will change once they do.

Update 4th May - A discord mod for the company has basically told people who think this is unfair to show their displeasure on steam and refund the game, essentially saying the quiet part out loud that they don't care

Update 3rd May - The devs have decided that you MUST now link your account to a PSN account to play a game you bought months ago, PSN is one of the biggest jokes in the cyber security world, no 'Data Breach LLC' can't have my data just so you can ban me for saying something mean on your discord.

One of the best CO-OP games I've ever played, if you played ODST and always thought it was a bit meh that you only dropped once, boy is this the game for you, negative reviews are due to a small studio not expecting this game to be as popular as it is and the servers are suffering.

The anti-cheat is a major con tho, kernel level anti-cheats are short sighted and dumb

Be warned - published by Deep Silver, the guys who killed Saints Row and chased the guy who made essentially VR Metro off of Steam.

If you've made it this far, you already know if you'll enjoy Metro, janky voice acting and animations are still here, but for the sheer hell they went through to make it, the game is full of charm and strange moments, if you'e just playing to understand exodus, play on Spartan - Normal, otherwise Ranger is the recommended difficulty option.

How do I uninstall Barrett?

This game is the culmination of the slippery slope that Fallout 4's style over substance set Bethesda on, this is an entirely new breed of Bethesda writing coupled with confusing and unnecessary mechanics.

The story feels flat as a pancake, I never cared about anyone in this world, the entire world of Starfield is just so bland, every character is puddle deep, while spouting off sanitised zoomed humour until your entire reason to play the game is to kill off a character you're supposed to care about.

Outposts? Useless! You can buy everything and you will be swimming in credits, by the time the game ended I was awash in more money than I could use, making outposts more of a chore I never had to engage with

The ship building is fun but hits an upper limit and is irrelevant in NG+

Companions will get booted from your ship once you've heard the same lines that felt like they were written by Bethesda's HR department a thousand times

The only twists in this tale annoyed me because I thought I'd finally gotten rid of that annoying NPC, right up until they become relevant to the plot

Honestly, there are so many reasons not to support Bethesda with your money, this game is far too awful to justify considering ignoring any of those reasons. (Remember what Bethesda did to Mick Gordon)

This review is squarely focused on the story, if you're here about gameplay, it's good and does exactly what it needs to.

Minor Spoilers ahead:
There are 5 twists in this game, each one of them is so predictable and obvious that I legitimately started to lament this game, the entire plot can be guessed by the 3rd hour and by the 5th it's just a case of making sure you were right.

Characters you're introduced to in the EXTREMELY long prologue of the game are all but winking at the camera that they're evil, alongside this you have Lara's 'trauma' about the death of her Father, which is entirely contained within this game and serves only as the stick to justify why Lara doesn't turn back or ask for help.

All characters in this game are entirely one dimensional, from the big bad Russian who for some reason has the same voice actor as Alec Ryder from Mass Effect:Andromeda, to the "I am legitimately evil but the writers still want you to hope for my redemption" character.

One character returns from the first game and is just a tool for the writers to get you to care for 3 seconds, while new characters aren't fleshed out enough for their role in the story, I have legitimately played better COD campaigns than this.

Lara herself is mentally thicker than a pixar mom and spends 90% of the game with a surprised pikachu face and the last 10% telling you how much the macguffin she's after means to her because her father wanted it too, she is the epitome of all the memes about British Colonialism and will at times, say very out of place weird ♥♥♥♥

I can't help but wonder if the publisher messed with this game, there's now broken Microtransactions in the game that have been disabled due to no one buying them and a weird difficulty spike at the very end of the game, this game feels like it needed another 18 months to flesh out but got shoved out the door with very questionable design decisions and DLC it does not need at all.

In total, don't bother doing the side stuff, maybe the Baba Yaga DLC but only if you want the Bow or Outfit

Early Access Review
It's what you've read, a 3 man dev team smashes out an easy to run, fantastic blend of Battlefield and Squad

It's not an original formula, but it has its own unique bits like Rappelling from Choppers and it's all done with a scalpel like precision

I just suck at it...
