The shiny new game feeling wore off and all the poor development decisions poured out at once.

Map verticality is a big selling point, but never used and often only gets in the way. There are two firing stances, low, and high (rmb) which raises your shots about a foot. Most vertical areas are too extreme to use it. You can't shoot down or up, only slightly higher than the default position.

AI is as dumb as it gets. Every area is sprinkled with cover and explosive barrels, but once you trigger a "fight", AI spawns from every direction and bumrushes you. There's no thoughtful combat, just holding a direction key and the fire button.

Weapons all feel the same, and anything that isn't a full-auto machine gun is an immediately obvious downgrade. I never thought I could be disappointed after picking up a rocket minigun, but they figured it out.

Damage types (along with all the character-related stats like defense and skills) are poorly explained and don't really seem to matter.

Armor system is a meme

Weapons are upgraded using a finite resource that the game doesn't give you enough of to fully upgrade every weapon. You can't downgrade a weapon to refund the resource. Certain enemies are weaker to some weapons, so you have to know going in which ones aren't garbage otherwise you get locked into one or two weapons for the entirety of the game and others become useless by mid-game.

Cotton candy at 3 feet.

Quest and enemy progression is a disaster. One of the first side-quests you get is rated level 2, leads you through two groups of level 10 and 15 enemies, to an elevator that you can't get through until level 10, which isn't explained anywhere. Had to look it up to see if the game was just bugged. On the last mission, we went through a wave of level 23s, then 11s, then 24s, then 30s, then 4's. We were 24, quest rated 25.

Co-op is a buggy desync'd mess. Client player can't use the map at all, game freezes/blackscreens/crashes constantly, runs like ♥♥♥♥ randomly. Quest markers appear in places that have nothing to do with them and then disappear. I don't think this was tested at all.

Also not sure if it was just the game or co-op desync, but random skills and augments would just be suddenly missing.

Loot economy is a joke. By mid-game we both had 400k credits and nothing to spend it on because we had all the weapons. Only other thing to spend on is armor, which is useless since you just pick up the best ♥♥♥♥ off the ground and everything else is a downgrade.
Difficulty is the good ol' "give the enemies more health but don't change their AI at all" and you have unlimited ammo so it doesn't matter and is just tedious.

Skills are boring and never change. Weapons are boring and never change. Everything you get is what it is for the whole game and only gains pitiful damage increases. Skills and item cooldowns are too long to make use of in a fun way, even with maxxed out reduction.

It's just a slow, tedious romp through a world that looks pretty much the same in every direction, and every once in a while something really cool happens where you overload an enemy while your homie fires a volley of missiles and there's a huge chain explosion and everything dies and you get lots of eye candy.

but that's rare as ♥♥♥♥ and everything in between is a slog

I don't remember a single character's name other than Poone because lol his name is Poone
